Welcome Back!  I hope you all had a nice, relaxing March Break.   Here are a few things happening this week:   * In Literacy, we will be working on the letter B b.  So many words begin with the letter B b, such as, banana, balloon, bear, bumblebee, buffalo, beaver, bat, ball, and bowling.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so have fun hunting for something that starts with the /b/ sound.   * In Math, we are still working on Unit 3: Geometry and Measurement.  We will be exploring Capacity this week.   *  Please remember to review sight words on a daily basis.  Also, it is very important to read the books I send home every night.

Here are a few things that are happening in and around our classroom this week:   *  In Literacy, we are working on the letter F f.  What fun!  So many words begin with the letter F f, such as fun, fantastic, fabulous, Florida, fancy, fox, fish, finger, fan, five, and friends.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so happy hunting for something with the /f/ sound.       *  In Math, we will be starting lessons on Capacity.   *  On Tuesday, our Kindergarten class will be going snowshoeing.  Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately with snowpants, jackets, boots, hat, and mittens.  The kids will be outside for almost an hour.         *  On Wednesday, it is pink shirt day for Anti-Bullying.  Please wear a pink shirt on this day to show your support.         *  On Friday, we are having our Olympics Day, full of fun and exciting activities.

Both Kindergarten classes will be going skating tomorrow, Feb. 19th at the LBA.  This will be the last time we will be going skating this year.  All students need skates and a helmet.

Here are a few things happening this week: *  In Literacy, we will be working on the letter L l.  Isn't that lovely?  Some words that begin will this letter are lion, lollipop, lawn, love, lucky, licorice, laptop, leaf, lips, log, and lamb.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so have fun looking for something with the /l/ sound. *  In Math, we are still working on the Unit 3:  Geometry and Measurement. *  On Tuesday, Feb. 18th, we are celebrating the 100th Day of School.  Those students who made a project can bring it in on the day.  We will be celebrating in the gym.   *  On Friday, Feb. 21st, some teachers in the school will be cutting their hair to help raise money for cancer.  A notice with more information will be sent home on Tuesday.

*  Due to the snow storm that may occur on Friday, the staff at St. Andrew's has decided to celebrate Valentine's Day a day earlier, Thursday, February 13th.  Please have your child (children) bring their Valentine's Day cards tomorrow.  *  The cafeteria will also be serving their Valentine's Day meal tomorrow.  Please make sure your child's money is in if they intend to buy.  Please remember that the Valentine's Day meal will be the only meal served tomorrow. Happy Valentine's Day!!

Here are a few things happening this week:   *  In Literacy, we will be working on the letter U u.  This letter is also a hard working vowel because it has 2 sounds...long u and short u.  Some words with long u include, unicorn, universe, unit, ukulele, university, and unicycle.  Some short u words include, uncle, under, us, up, ugly, and unzip.  Show and Tell will be on Thursday this week because Friday will be very busy with the 100th day and Valentine's day.     *  In Math, we are still working on Unit 3: Geometry and Measurement.     *  On Friday, February 14th, we will be celebrating our 100th Day of School.  A note will be sent home in regards to a 100th day project.  Your child can make a poster or t-shrit will 100 things...your choice.  This is an optional project.  We will be having our celebration in the gym.       *  Also on Friday, February 14th, it is Valentine's Day.  We will have our party in the afternoon and pass out our Valentine's.

On Friday, February 7th, we are having an opening ceremony to celebrate the Olympics.  Each class has a country and our class is representing Sweden.  We would like each class to dress in their country's colors.  Our colors are blue and yellow so please, if possible, dress your child in blue and yellow on Friday.  Thank you!

Here are a few things happening this week:   *  In Literacy, we are working on the letter O o.  The is anther hard working vowel because it says two sounds.  The long O o sound can be found in words such as, oval, orange, ocean, Olympics, oatmeal, open, and overalls.  The short O o sound can be found in words such as, operator, mom, mop, option, octopus, olive, and octogon.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so have fun searching for something that begins with the /o/ sound.     *  In Math, we continue to work on Unit 3: Geometry and Measurement.   *  Interim Reports go home on Tuesday, February 4th.  Please look for this in your child's book buddy bag.         *  On Friday, we have Art Richard coming in to perform for the students in the morning and in the afternoon we are having our opening ceremonies for the Olympics

Here are a few things happening this week:   *  In Literacy we will be working on the letter G g.  Isn't that GREAT!  Some words that begin with this letter are gorilla, great, grapes, grade, gallery, guess, and goat.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so have fun searching for something that begins with the /g/ sound.         *  In Math, we continue to work on Unit 3: Geometry and Measurement.  Students have learned about 3D shapes and have to describe and sort them.       *  On Wednesday, January 29th, our Kindergarten class will be going on a field trip to the Miramichi Regional Hospital.  The bus will be leaving at approximately 9:00 and arriving back to the school at approximately 11:00.  A snack will be provided to the kids while we are there.       *  Please remember to have your child read their guided reading book every night and continue to practice their sight words.  The more they read, the more fluent their reading will become.   *  On Friday, January 31st, the Leadership students are holding a "Bring your Electronic to School Day".  The cost to bring your electronic to school is $1.00.  Students will be able to play their device at recess and during a half hour that is designated by the teacher for play.  All proceeds will go to purchasing new playground equipment.
