Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Here are a few things to keep in mind for this week: * In Literacy this week, we will be working on the letter A a. This is a strong working vowel because it has two sounds. Short A a can be found in words such as, Ally, alligator, astronaut, alphabet, act, cat, dad, gas, lap, and yam. Long A a says it's own name and can be found in words such as, ape, apron, age, acorn, aide, able, cape, drape, fade, and wake. Show and Tell will be on Friday so happy hunting for something that begins with the letter A a. * In Math, we still working on Patterns. The kids are having so much fun! * Just a reminder that picture retakes will be held on Thursday, October 24th. Please let me know if your child plans on having retakes so I know who will need to go on that day. Thanks!

Here are a few things that are happening at school and some things to mark on your calendars: * Because the photocopier was out of order last week, we are going to continue to work on the letter S and learn about Alliteration, so there will be no new homework this week. There will be no Show and Tell this week. * In Math, students love learning about Patterns. We have been making all kinds of different ones and we are also learning how to extend them. * School photos are due back on Monday, October 7th. If you want your child to get retakes, please write that on the envelop and send it back in to me. * There is NO SCHOOL for students on Thursday, October 10th (PD Meetings), Friday, October 11th (PD Meetings) or Monday, October 14th (Thanksgiving).

Here are a few things happening this week: * In Literacy this week we are working on the letter S s. So many sensational words begin with this letter, such as, Sammy, snake, sneakers, school, snack, shake, slide, and silly. There will be new homework this week, all about the letter S s. On Friday, we will have Show and Tell with something that begins with the /s/ sound. This will continue each Friday with whatever letter we will be working on. Have fun! * In Math, we are having so much fun with Patterns. We have been creating patterns, coloring patterns, and doing lots of activities with patterns. The kids love creating AB patterns. * Please remember to review the sight words with your child each night. This will help when it comes time to read books. They will be able to recognize them when they are reading and it will also help with their fluency.
