Wow!  Can you believe it!  It's the last week of school.  Here are a few things happening this week. *  There will be no more homework.  I do however, encourage your child to continue reading every night.  I will not be sending any more books home and I ask that you send back any classroom books you may have at home.  Each day I will be sending student work home so they do not have a heavy load on the last day of school. *  Monday, June 16th - As soon as the bell rings in the morning we will be having our school wide photo before coming inside.  Afterwards, we will be having our end of the year awards. *  Tuesday, June 17th - Black Light Show for students will take place in the gym.  *  Wednesday, June 18th - Saint Andrew's Kids Got Talent will take place all morning in the gym. *  Thursday, June 19th - K-2 sports day will take place in the morning and 3-5 sports day will take place in the afternoon.  This is also the last day for the cafeteria. *  Friday, June 20th - The Last Day of School and Report Card go home.  This is a half day for students.  Buses will leave at 11:30.  If you plan to pick up your child, pick up will be in the cafeteria at 11:30, unless you pick them up earlier.  Please send in the dismissal note I sent home last week if you have not already done so.  *  Thank you for all your support throughout the school year.  I have enjoyed working and watching your children succeed.  I wish you all a safe and happy summer!

Wow!  Can you believe that we are already in the month of June?  Only 3 more weeks left of school!  Here are a few things happening this week: *  In Literacy, we will be reviewing a lot of things that we have already learned.  There will be no more paper and pencil homework for the remainder of the year.  I would however, like students to read every night and review sight words.  Reading logs will be sent home this week. *  In Math, we are still working on numbers to 10 and beyond.  Students love seeing how high they can count. *  Field trip information will be sent home this week.

Here are a few things happening this week:   *  In Literacy, we are working on "ay" and "ai".  Each make the sound of /a/.  Students have learned that "ai" has the sound of /a/ in the middle of words, such as, train, pain, and gain and "ay' has the sound of /a/ at the end of words, such as, bay, Saturday, and spray.  There will be no Show and Tell since we are done with all the letters of the alphabet.   *  In Math, we are still working on Unit 4: Numbers to 10.   *  Just a reminder to have your child keep practicing sight words on a daily basis and read every night.  The more sight words they know, the better they will become with their reading.  By this time of year, students should know all the sight words that were sent home.       *  Go for 42 is still in full force.  If your child walks or runs at night, please let me know how far they have gone and I will give them a shoe tag.  Shoe tags are given out at 5 km, 10 km, 20 km, 25 km, 30 km and 40 km.

Here are some things happening this week: *  In Literacy, we will be working on the 'th' diagraph.  We sometimes call this the saucy tongue sound because we stick out our tongue a little bit to make the soft 'th' sound and a little bit more to make the hard 'th' sound.  Some words that start with the 'th' diagraph are this, that, thread, thimble, thorn, thistle, thigh, and thank.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so happy hunting. *  In Math, we are still working on numbers to 10 and making combinations of each. *  On Wednesday, May 21st, we will awarding the prizes for our Spell-a-Thon.  Thank you to everyone who has participated in our major fundraiser.   *  Our 'Go for 42' program has begun.  Please keep track of how far your child has walked/ran.  Shoe tags are awarded for every so many kilometers.  The first shoe tag is awarded at 5 km.  Just send me a note to let me know how much your child has walked/ran.
