Both Kindergarten classes will be going skating on November 13th.  The bus will leave at approximately 8:35 to go to the LBA and returning at approximately 10:00.  Every student must have skates AND a helmet.  If your child requires a pair of skates, please let me know and I will try to find a pair to fit him/her, but please do not leave this to the last minute.

In celebrating the letter P p, both Kindergarten classes will be having a pancake and pajamas day on Thursday, November 7th.  Students can wear their pajamas to school and we will be having a little snack of pancakes in the morning.  So, it is still very important that students bring their lunch as well.

Here are few things happening this week: *  In Literacy this week, we will be working on the letter P p.  So many things begin with the letter P p, such as, Paydon, pumpkin, pickle, paper, pencil, pilot, poster, penguin, purple, and pirate.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so happy hunting for something with the /p/ sound. *  In Math, we are still working on Unit 2.  We are doing lots of counting and learning about fewer, as many as, and fewer.   *  We will be having our Remembrance Day ceremony on Friday, November 8th in the school gym, beginning at 9:15.     *  Please continue to read each night and study sight words on a regular basis.  I have tested each child on the first 3 sight word lists and will do so again at the end of November on lists 4 and 5.  Knowing these sight words will help students become better readers.

Here are a few things happening in our classroom this week:   *In Literacy, we will be working on the letter I i.  This is another hard working vowel because it has two sounds.  The short /i/ sound can be found in words such as, igloo, ill, pill, chill, iguana, illusion, infant, pick, and sick.  The long ‘i’ can be found in words such as, Isaac, ice, ice cream, I, iris, Ireland, Irish, iron, and island.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so have fun finding something that begins with the /i/ sound.       *In Math we are still working on Unit 2: Numbers.  We have been learning about more, fewer, and as many as.  We have been doing all kinds of hands on activities for this and the kids are really enjoying it.       *On Wednesday, October 30th, we will be carving some pumpkins in our classroom.  If you would like to donate a pumpkin to carve you can bring it in any time before Wednesday.  If you would like to come in and volunteer to help carve the pumpkins, you are more than welcome.  We are looking to carve 4 pumpkins so we would need at least 3 volunteers so we could put four kids in each group and have four groups.       *On Thursday, October 31st, we will be having our Halloween Celebration for the kids.  This will take place in the gym, beginning at approximately 12:45 for the K-3 wing and later on for the 3-5 wing.  The kids will be doing activities such as a parade of costumes, Zumba, and minute to win it games.  Your child may wear his/her costume to school but if there is a mask, they will only be allowed to wear that during the Halloween Celebration.   *Our school Library is closed until further notice so we will not be able to take out books until it reopens.  Thank you for your patience.
