Welcome back folks! With only 3 more weeks of school left until vacation, I would like to remind students to continue reading nightly and also record their books in their reading logs. I have extra copies in class once their first sheet is complete.Students will be learning many new seasonal words to add to their expanding repertoire. We will be incorporating various words into our writing pieces and songs.Montre et Raconte has been a great success thus far. This activity provides an authentic situation for students to describe, practice, and speak in French. We will continue this activity throughout the year. French - We will be continuing our Family theme this week. Students will continue to add to their journals as we progress.Math - We continue to practice our numbers orally up to 1000 and mental math strategies (i.e. doubles +/- 1, 2 etc, making 10, estimation, rounding). Our “Tour du Monde” mental math activity has been a success with students in class and they really enjoy learning their +/- facts.I have provided a link on my page from “Learn Alberta” to assist student with various math activities. I would suggest taking a look at the addition and subtraction tabs from the main menu for this week if students choose to partake. I realize students/parents will not understand all the language on the site, but the math fundamentals are still the same J Estimation and subtraction of 2 and 3 digit numbers will be our focus this week.  Incomplete review sheets will be sent home. If you would like extra examples for practice, please send me a note :) There will be a mini quiz on FridayReminders:-   Reading is to occur nightly.      Welcome back :) A reminder that report cards will be sent home next week.French - This week we will be wrapping up our theme on animals and moving on to discuss families. Last week, students were taught how to use our class set of French dictionaries in order to assist them in their very first piece of writing.  We are going through the writing steps process as we progress with our vocabulary and terminology. It is very exciting to see the progress your child has made. Their first piece of writing was all about a “weird” animal they had to create and describe. We will also commence Show and Tell “Montre et Raconte” in class this week in order to develop student’s vocabulary, fluidity, comprehension and listening skills. I will demonstrate on Monday and students (alphabetical order) and commence on Tuesday.
