     I would like to personally thank all of you for making this a successful year/transition for you child. Students have made tremendous gains since September and should be extremely proud of the fact that they are now able to speak, read, and write en français:) Enjoy your well deserved summer break.      A reminder that our field trip to the Miramichi Salmon Conservation Center and NW Miramichi River is this Friday,June12th. We will be leaving school at 8:45 and returning around 2 p.m. A bbq with refreshments and veggie trays will be provided. Please ensure students have the following:1) 2-3 snacks with water bottle2) umbrella/rain jacket (depending on the weather),rubber boots to release fish along river's edge.3) bug spray,bug jacket/long sleeve sweather as the bugs are ferocious this time of year.4) hat, sun screen

    Welcome back! Field trip permission slips have been sent home with your child today. Please ensure they are returned by Friday, June 5th.French - Students will finalize their year end write up this week. Daily 5, spelling, oral struture review continue as per our routine. Students have made great gains throughout the year :)Math - For the next 2 weeks, we will be reviewing probalility and graphing. This is our final unit of the year. With time remaining, we will go over addition and subtraction of 3 digit numbers.Science - Students have constucted 2 structures over the past 2 weeks. One structure was out of drinking straws and the other with newspaper. This week we will review material covered throughout the unit and move on to our Soils unit. Students particularly enjoy this unit, as we get to spent time outside getting our hands dirty exploring different soil types, searching for creepy crawlers, etc. This last unit ties in nicely with math as well.Reminders:Field trip notice due Friday, June 5th.Reading to occur nightly. Let's have a great week.      Welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed our perspective of a student Go Pro video that was posted last week. We really enjoyed filming.Our year end field trip has been approved. Friday, June 12th students will be travelling to the Miramichi Salmon Conservation Center in South Esk for an educational tour followed by a bbq and release of our salmon eggs in the NW Miramichi. Information sheet will be sent home next week.French - Students are in the process of writing their good copy of their final writing assignment of the year. All material covered throughout the year will be included.Math - Key math skills testing will take place Monday and Tuesday of this week. We will use the remainder of the week and next to learn about bar charts and graphs.Science - Students will be building structures this week out of straws and tape. Upon completion, we will document the process and discuss key points of a solid structure. Reminders:  - Read nightly - Sign and return agenda/read bag to school.- Scholastic due May 29thLet's have a great week.      Welcome back! Please note that Wednesday, May 13th students will be travelling the JMH for St. Andrew’s Performance/Dress Rehearsal for Black Light Show. Students will be at JMH from 8:30 until lunch. The public is invited to attend the show Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m.Our class Go Pro video has been edited. I am in the process now of adding music to the film. Stay tuned JFrench - Students continue to work on the draft for their final writing assignment of the year. All material covered throughout the year will be included in the autobiography book.Math – Our unit in Fractions will be completed this week. Our test will be next Monday. If you require additional work to complete at home, please feel free to write me. I also posted two web links to my teacher page last year. If you have a minute, please take time to review them.Science - We will be discussing what a structure is and parts are included in building them. We will also discuss the role of an engineer/architect. * If you have any old newspapers/flyers at home that you no longer require, please send them with your child. We will utilize them to build a tower later on in the unit.      Welcome back. Spring weather is finally upon us. With that being said, it can me cool and wet at times on the playground. Students are encouraged to wear their sweaters/jackets due to the breeze coming off the river.We finished filming with the Go Pro camera last week.  I require some time to edit the final production. Please stay tuned.Spell-a-thon notices and words have been sent home. Please practice your words this week. Students will write a spelling test on Friday. Words will be sent home to collect pledges.French - We are in the process of reviewing all material covered throughout the year. With 7 weeks left of school, our goal is to draft and complete our final written assignment of the year. Students will have a nice souvenir to bring home with them in June.Math - We will spend the next 2 weeks going over Fractions. If you require additional work to complete at home, please feel free to write me. The Lean Alberta web link provided on my page provides additional practice at home as well.Science - Science will commence next Monday. We will be learning about Structures. If you have any old newspapers or flyers at home that you can part with, please send them with your child. We will utilize them to build a tower and bride.      Welcome back! A reminder to everyone that there will be NO school for students this Thursday and Friday due to meetings.We are in the process of using a Go Pro camera to film a short video this week. The video will be based on the perspective/view of a student’s daily routine at school. Please stay tuned.Also on Wednesday we will be having a “Dress as a book character day” organized by the Student Council. Your child may choose a character from a children’s themed book and dress as the character in the book.French - This week’s theme will be “Communities” We will discuss where we live in relation to our friends and family, discuss neighborhoods, how we arrive to and from school as well as local points of interest within our community.Math - Multiplication and division test were corrected and sent home to be signed Monday. Please return this week. We will be spending the next 2-3 weeks going over Fractions before we proceed onto probability and graphing.Science will commence in May. Students will be learning about structures and the various materails and forces applied in construction. If you have any newspapers and/or flyers at home to please send them with your child.      Welcome back :) I would like to thank Mr. Jean-Guy Comeau who paid us a visit last week. He spent an hour with us talking about the forest, animals and natural resources of New Brunswick. His presentation reinforced tied in nicely with our Social Studies unit. French - We will continue with our Daily 5 routine this week and move on to identify specific vocabulary pertaining to our specific favorite pastimes throughout each season. Following this unit, we have one more to complete before we move begin to review material covered since September and commence our draft for our year end book. Math - We completed our multiplication and division unit last Friday. We will use our time this week to review and prepare for our unit test Friday. Fractions will be our next unit of study. Reminders:- Scholastic orders due Friday.- Reading is to occur nightly- Continue to check agenda. Send notices in your child's agenda if you require assistance, after school pick-up, etc.Let's have a great week.         Welcome back to another week in 3Glazier. Students had many great stories to share with the class relating to their Easter break.*** Our class will be participating in the MVHS Fly Fishing and Outdoors Expo Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Transportation is provided to and from school to MVHS. Students will be able to see many informative displays such as Miramichi Salmon Association, Dept of Fisheries and Oceans, Dept of Natural Resources, MVHS Underwater Robot Project, etc. Students will also have the opportunity to tie knots, flies and learn how to cast a fly rod. Please ensure your child has a bag lunch/snacks as a precaution in case we arrive later than intended. French - We completed an Easter story last week. We will continue with procedural writing this week. Students will continue to develop their vocabulary and incorporate new transitional words into their writing pieces.As always, our Daily 5 routine will continue. Students have many great gains, and I look forward to reading with a new group of students daily to aide with their fluidity, prediction, and comprehension skills.Math - This week we will move on to cover division seeing that we spent the last two weeks going over multiplication. Feel free to contact me if you would like to request extra work for your child to practice at home.Social Studies - We are nearing the completion of our Social Studies unit. Students have studied many aspects about our province.  We have looked at our climate, vegetation, geographic elements, physical descriptors, population, attractions to name a few. We also took time to compare our province to the Maritimes and Canada as a whole.Health - Our 5 senses will be explored this week. Reminders: - Read nightly - Sign and return agenda/read bag to school. - April Scholastic order will be sent home Friday, April 10th. - Mr. Jean Guy Comeau will pay us a visit on April 15th to discuss NB forest as part of our Social Studies unit.

      Welcome back. We received our salmon eggs last Tuesday from the hatchery. Thus far two eggs have hatched. Within another week or so they should all be out and about. April’s calendar has also been sent home in your child’s reading bag. Many important dates/activities have been highlighted.Also, if possible I am asking students to bring in a toilet paper and/or paper towel role to school Thursday. We will be making bunnies for art. French - We will be finishing up our “favorite pastime” theme this week. We are nearing completion of our themes for the year. Once complete, we will undertake a writing activity covering all themes. My goal is to have students produce a year end book/journal to take home in June.Math - We continue with various multiplication activities. Later on in the week we will move on to division. Feel free to practice multiplication at home up to 5x5 (and beyond if you choose).      Please note that Parent/Teacher Interviews will be Thursday, March 25th from 4-6  pm and Friday, March 27th from 9-11:30 pm. NO school for students on Friday. Reports cards go home Tuesday along with interview slips.Monday, we will be receiving salmon eggs to feed and foster as part of the Miramichi Salmon Association's Fish Friends Program. Student's are looking forward to Mrs.Wright's visit. April 8th, we are also planning on attending MVHS's Fly Fishing Expo from 9-11 am.Student's will participate in many educational activities throughout the morning.French - As far as our weeks goes, we will utlize our time to continue with our French unit and complete assignemnts that I had anticipated in completing last week.Math - We also will continue with our multiplication this week.      Please note that report cards will be going out on Tuesday, March 24th A memo for Parent/Teacher interviews will be sent home with report cards and interviews will be done up March 25th. Appointments and times will be sent home the 26th. French - Our topic of discussion this week will be about our favorite passe times. What they are, where we partake, etc. Students really enjoy this theme. We will continue to add to our class word wall and learn new songs as we go! Students will also commence a narrative story about St. Patrick’s Day on Monday. We will use the remainder of our week to complete discussions/activities in regards to our province i.e. local attractions across various villages, towns, and cities across New Brunswick as we wrap up our Social Studies Unit. Students will commence a brief city/town presentation upon completion of our unit. Following Social Studies, we will move on to study Canada’s Food Guide and healthy lifestyles in Health.  Please continue to read at home each night to promote the gains they have made thus far. Do not hesitate to ask your child questions. From time to time an activity sheet will be sent home to complete their reading. Please pay attention to their agenda’s. Math – Last week we reviewed our 4th unit in math and students wrote their test. Please sign and return. Monday we will commence our multiplication and division unit. Incomplete work will be sent home if need be.      Welcome back. We will be celebrating Acadian culture Friday, Feb 20th with a “Kitchen Party” at school. Students will be able to sample poutine râpée and chicken fricot. Next week, St. Andrew’s will be hosting a Winter Carnival. Please stay tuned :) French-This week we will undertake a writing activity about winter seeing that “Old Man Winter” has not been very cooperative lately. With that being said students will be introduced to new terminology and continue to utilize our high frequency words on display on our word wall as well as their French dictionaries. 6+1 writing trait mini lessons are also incorporated into our routine prior to any writing activity. This week we will be focusing on “organization” and “word choice” as part of our mini lessons. Please note we continue with guided reading and Daily 5. Comprehension, fluidity, visualization, and prediction strategies continue to be the focus of my mini lessons. Each morning prior to our routine, we take the time to read 2-3 class books collectively as a class. Math-We continue with our 4th unit. This week we will be learning to measure objects using a 30 centimeter rules and meter stick.  Next week we will be learning to measure perimeter and area. Word problems will also be studied and dissected in order to find key words/phrases. If you like extra practice for your son or daughter at home, please notify me and I will send supplementary work in their reading bags. The following is a link to a great math resource. We will also compare our province in terms of populations and size to other provinces and territories in Canada. From there, students will learn about various bodies of water in and around NB.
