Welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed the Halloween video presentation we sang last Friday. Students really enjoyed practicing the song.It is hard to believe that we are already into the month of November. Report cards and parent teacher interviews are just around the corner. I look forward to meeting many parents/guardians.  French - We will be continuing our theme on Animals. Our objective will be to describe physical characteristics of various animals We are now into the swing of things with our Daily 5/guided reading sessions. 5 centers have been created (i.e. read to self, read with Mr. Glazier, writing, etc) and students have taken well to their assigned duties. Bravo les amis! We are also in the process of reading many browsing box books in order to have an ample supply for your son/daughter to bring home and read at night. Daily sound sheets are also reviewed each day and sent home to be rehearsed. You will notice as well that students now have a new reading log sheet in their take home bag. Please ensure that students write down the book(s) they have read on this sheet and place in their bags nightly. Doing so enables me to keep track of their reading and what books may need to be return if forgotten at home. Our school Remembrance Day ceremony will be held on Monday, November 10th. In preparation for this event our class will be creating and painting poppies out of egg cartons. If you are able to send in an empty carton to school by Thursday it would be greatly appreciated.    Math - We continue to practice our numbers orally up to 100. Our focus is now on addition and subtraction.  My focus this week will be on new vocabulary, doubles +/- 1, 2, number lines and relationships between addition and subtraction (N.10 of NB Math 3 curriculum). Incomplete class work will be sent home as homework.  Reminders:  Reading is to occur nightly. Please record on sheet. November Scholastic will be sent home next week. Let's have a great week! As always if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

Welcome to our 8th week of school. Time has gone by quickly. I am impressed with the level of French your child has learned thus far. Let’s keep up the good work J    French - This week we will continue with our theme on animals. This week we will also go through the writing steps process as we progress with our vocabulary and terminology. It is very exciting to see the progress your child has made. Their first piece of writing will be all about a “weird” animal that they will create and describe for Halloween.   Also, Daily 5/guided reading has commenced. I began last week by demonstrating what is expected of students during this time. Further explanation of this procedure will be given during parent teacher interviews or via e-mail if you are curious as to what takes place. This time essentially provides me the opportunity to read and work with a group of students, while the others are tasked with various activities.   Math - We continue with  mental math strategies up to 2 digits, along with addition and subtraction of 3 digits numbers where the final answer can be as high as 1000. Last week we reviewed our doubles +/- 1, 2 etc. This week we will practice addition with a number line.   As always, we continue to practice numbers orally up to 100. Students have caught on quickly and are all doing well. We continue to practice every day during our morning routine and math classes.   Reminders: - Reading is to occur nightly. - Reading bags are to be returned daily- Please sign your child’s agenda to let me know you have reviewed homework- Memo concerning Halloween was sent home last Thursday. Let's have a great week! As always if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please ensure that your child return's their book to school daily. Two books have gone missing, so if you can take a minute to look around home that would be greatly appreciated. Merci :)We will begin practicing our Daily5 (Super 5) routine next week. Once we have reheasred all 5, students will be reading new books in small group settings with myself and their peers in order to be sent home and practiced.
