Here are a few things happening this week:  *In Literacy, we will be working on the letter Z z.  Can you think of anything that begins with the /z/ sound?  A few words are zoo, zebra, zipper, Ziploc, zap, zone, and Zander.  Show and Tell will be on Thursday this week.   *In Math, we will be having lots of fun measuring things around the classroom.   *On Tuesday, April 2nd, we are having Hat Day in support of World Autism Day.  Students are allowed to wear a hat of their choice and give a donation to do so.  All funds raised go to Autism Resources Miramichi.   *Parent/Teacher interviews will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:30 and again on Friday morning from 9:00 – 11:30.  Interview sheets have been sent home so if you would like an appointment time, please fill it out and I will try to accommodate your preferred time as best I can.  I will send your time home on Tuesday, April 2nd.   *Miss Davis will be with us now every day for the next 7 weeks.  We also have a new Intervention Worker in our classroom.  Her name is Mrs. Smith but the kids can call her Mrs. Jayme.  Let’s all give them a very warm welcome.   *There is no school on Friday, April 5th, due to Parent/Teacher Interviews in the morning and PD for teachers in the afternoon.

Here are a few things happening this week: *In Literacy, we are working on the letter J j.  Jumping jelly beans, there are so many words that begin with this letter, such as, joy, jellyfish, jump, jingle, juggle, jelly, jiggle, jig, jug, Jupiter, and Jasmine.  Show and Tell will be on Thursday this week because there is no school on Friday.   *In Math, we are working on Unit 3: Geometry and Measurement.  This week we will be measuring lots of things around the classroom.   *Report cards go home on Wednesday, March 27, 2013.  Parent/Teacher interviews will be held next week on Thursday evening and Friday morning.  The Easter Dinner will also be held on this day and will be the only meal served in the cafeteria that day.  The cost is $5.00.       *There is no school on Friday, March 29th (Good Friday) or Monday, April 1st (Easter Monday).  I hope the Easter Bunny finds you all.  Happy Easter!

Here are few things happening this week: *In Literacy, we are working on the letter B b.  So many words begin with this letter, such as, bumblebee, bear, ball, balloon, battery, baby, bird, braid, and Bobby.  Sow and Tell will be on Friday so happy hunting for someone with the /b/ sound.   *In Math, we are working on the Geometry and Measurement Unit.    *The CUTE Awards are this Wednesday, March 20th, at the JMH theater.  The doors open at 6:15 and the show begins at 7:00.  Many teachers at the school are up for awards, so please come out and show your support.   *Spring is here this week!  Can you believe it?  We are still indoors for the short recess, but we still go out for noon recess and the kids tend to get a bit wet.  It may be a good idea to put an extra pair of socks in your child’s book-bag, just in case their socks get wet.  Also, snow pants are getting soaked as well.  Could you please put a plastic bag in your child’s book-bag so they can put their wet snow pants in it at the end of the day.  That is if it’s nice enough to go without them.  Thank you!  Anyone wanting to donate a few plastic bags to the classroom are more than welcome.  We have been going through a lot of them lately.   *If you have any question or concerns, please feel free to contact me at school.  Have a great week!

Welcome Back!!  I hope everyone had a nice, relaxing March Break. Here are a few things happening this week:  *In Literacy, we will be working on the letter F f.  So many fantastic letters start with this letter, such as, funny, fox, fur, family, fun, fancy, fish, Friday, and fruit.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so have fun fishing around the house for something that begins with the /f/ sound.   *In Math, we are working on Unit 3: Geometry and Measurement.

The boys and girls have worked very hard so far this week and they all deserve a nice, relaxing week at home (or away).  I hope you all enjoy your break!!  Remember that reading each day will help your fluency.  I will see you when you get back.

Just a reminder that our Kindergarten classes will be going sliding on Friday, March 1st, as part of Winter Carnival Day.  We will be going over to the Hollow at 10:30 and returning to the school at approximately 11:10.  Each child will need to bring their sled AND a helmet.  Sorry, no G.T.’s.  If you wish to join us, feel free.   We will be having a sock hop in the afternoon, beginning at 12:30, in the cafeteria.

Here are a few things happening this week: *Because there were so many storm days last week, in Literacy we will continue to learn about the letter L l this week.   *In Math, we are learning about 3D shapes, their names and how to sort and build with them.    *On Tuesday, Feb. 26, our Kindergarten class will be going snowshoeing as part of their gym class.  There is lots of snow outside now so I am sure the kids will have a ball.   *On Wednesday, Feb. 27, all Kindergarten kids will be going skating at the LBA.  The bus will leave the school at approximately 8:35 and will arrive back at approximately 10:00.   *Also on Wednesday, Feb. 27, we encourage everyone to wear a pink shirt in support no bullying.  Let’s show everyone that we can say no to bullies.   *On Friday, Mar. 1, it’s Winter Carnival Day.  In the morning we will be enjoying the outdoors so dress warm.  Kindergarten kids will be going sliding at the hollow so make sure your child has a helmet and a sled.  In the afternoon, we will have a ‘sock hop’ in the gym.   *We will have our Spelling Bee wrap up and draws sometime this week.  Our class did an excellent job in raising money for this fundraiser.

Here are a few things happening this week: *In Literacy, we will be working on the letter L l.  Lots of words begin with this letter, such as, like, lucky, lobster, lollipop, love, Landon, lizard, Lalaloopsy, and Lego.  Have fun looking for something with the /l/ sound for Friday’s Show and Tell.   *In Math, we are still working on the Geometry and Measurement Unit.  The 3D shapes we learned so far are cylinder, sphere, cube and cone.   *Because of the storm on Monday, we will be celebrating being in school for 100 days on Tuesday, Feb. 19th, so come decorated with your favorite 100th day shirt, sweater, hat, poster, etc.  I can’t wait to see them.   *Our class will be going snowshoeing on Wednesday, Feb. 20th, as part of their gym class.  Students will need their snowpants, jacket, boots, hat, and mittens.   *A new Mango Challenge is starting this week and it will focus on healthy lunches.  All information on this will be going home with your child in their homework bag.   *Spelling Bee results were sent home and now it’s time to collect the pledges.  Pledge sheets and money is due back on Wednesday, Feb. 20th.  We will be having our Spelling Bee awards ceremony on Friday, Feb. 22nd.

Here are a few things happening this week: *In Literacy this week, we are working on the letter U u.  This vowel works very hard because it has two sounds.  The short /u/ sound begins with words such as under, unzip, and umbrella.  The long u says its own name and begins words such as, unicorn, unicycle, and university.  Show and Tell will be on Friday.   *In Math, we are learning about 3D shapes.   *We will be having out Spelling Bee test on Monday, Feb. 11th.  The results will go home on Thursday, Feb. 14th.  Good luck everyone!    *Happy Valentine’s Day!  The Valentine’s Day dinner will be held on Thursday, Feb. 14th.  This will be the only meal served in the cafeteria on this day.  The cost of the meal is $5.00.  We will also have a Valentine’s Day celebration in the afternoon so we can hand out our Valentines.  * Scholastic Book Orders are due on Friday, Feb. 15th.

Ok, we are back in business.  My computer is back up and running.  Here are few things happening this week.   *  In Literacy, we are working on the letter O o.  This letter is a hard working vowel because it has two sounds.  The short O o is our Zoo Phonics sound and can be found in words such as, otter, ostrich, Oliver, opera, octopus, ox, and omelet.  The long O o sound says its own name and can be found in words such as, over, Olivia, ocean, and open.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so happy hunting for something that begins with the /o/ sound.       *  In Math, we are finished with Unit 2 so we are now moving onto Unit 3: Exploring Geometry and Measurement.       *  Please send in a cereal box or snack box with your child so we can make our Valentine mailbox.  Thank you.         *  We had our Spelling Bee kickoff yesterday and pledge sheets and a list of words was sent home with your child.  Please have your child study the words and be able to write them out.  We will have our spelling bee test on Monday, Feb. 11.

Show and Tell will be on Friday so good luck hunting for something that has the /g/ sound. * Jersey Day is on Friday so come dressed in your favorite jersey. Enjoy the rest of your week.

Here are a few things happening this week:   *  In Literacy we will be working on the letter D d.  So many words begin with this dynamic letter, such as, Daddy, donut, dog, ditch, deer, dinosaur, duck, doll, and door.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so happy hunting for something that begins with the /d/ sound.   *  In Math, we will continue making combinations of the numbers from 1-5.  We are also working on 5 frames.   *  On Wednesday, January 23, our Kindergarten class will be visiting the Miramichi Regional hospital.  The bus will leave at approximately 9:45 and arrive back at the school at approximately 11:15.  A notice about this was sent home with the homework.  We WILL NOT be going skating on this day with the other two Kindergarten classes.       *  On Thurday, January 24, students were scheduled to go snowsheing with Mr. Williston and Mr. Noel.  This has been canceled due to the cold weather and is tentatively rescheduled for next week.        *  On Friday, January 25, Remi the Magician will be putting on a magic show for all students.  This will take place in the school gym.             *  Scholastic Book Orders are due on Wednesday, January 23.

Here are few things happening this week:   *  In Literacy, we are still working on the letter M m because last week was a short week.  We still have more to learn with the marvelous letter M.  This week, instead of Show and Tell with the letter M, students can bring in something they got for Christmas.       *  In Math, we are still working on the numbers 1-5.
