Only 2 more weeks of school.  Where has the time gone!!  Here are a few things happening this week: *  In Literacy this week, we will be working on the /ar/ sound, reviewing the letters of the alphabet and learning more about vowels.   *  In Math, we are still working on the Unit 4:  Numbers to 10 and making different combinations of each.   *  On Monday, June 10th, we are going on our field trip to Beaubears Island.  We will be leaving at approximately 8:45 and returning at approximately 1:00.  There are still a few students who have not returned their permission slips so please remember to do that tomorrow.   *  There is no more homework for the remainder of the year, with the exception of reading.  I will continue to send home books and reading logs.

Here are a few things happening this week: *  In Literacy, we are working on "ay" and "ai".  Each make the sound of /a/.  Students have learned that "ai" has the sound of /a/ in the middle of words, such as, train, pain, and gain and "ay' has the sound of /a/ at the end of words, such as, bay, Saturday, and spray.  There will be no Show and Tell since we are done with all the letters of the alphabet. *  In Math, we are still working on Unit 4: Numbers to 10. *  A notice was sent home today regarding our end of year field trip.  If you could kindly fill it out and send it back, it would be greatly appreciated.   *  Scholastic Book orders are due on June 5th.  These orders are a great way to get some summer reading at a great value.

The end of May is upon us and there are a few things happening this week: *  In Literacy, we will be working on the 'th' diagraph.  The kids know that their tongue has to stick out a bit to make this sound.  We call it the saucy tongue sound and it's the only time we can stick out our tongues.  So many words begin and end with this sound, such as, thank, thought, Thursday, thing, thermos, theater, that, they, then, think, and three.  Show and Tell will be on Friday. *  In Math, we are still working on Unit 4: Numbers to 10. *  The Go for 42 walking club walks on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12:05-12:20.  Please make sure your child has the proper footwear for this walk. *  On Friday, May 31st, we will going on a school wide walk in support of Disability Awareness Week.  We will be walking to the Rodd and back.

I hope you all had a nice and relaxing Victoria Day Weekend.  Here are a few things happening this week: *  In Literacy this week we will be working on the diagraph 'sh'.  There are so many words that begin with this, such as, shout, shy, shadow, shovel, shoe, shine, share, and shower are just a few.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so happy hunting for something with the /sh/ sound.  *  In Math, we are working on Unit 4: Numbers to 10.  We have been doing lots of counting and making different combinations of six and are now moving on to the number seven. *  The Go for 42 noon time walk begins this week.  Students who brought their permission slips in last week will be going for noon time walks on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  Students will be leaving for the walk at approximately 12:05 and returning 15 minutes later so they still have some time to play before the bell rings.
