Here are a few things happening this week:   *  In Literacy we will be working on the letter G g.  Isn't that GREAT!  Some words that begin with this letter are gorilla, great, grapes, grade, gallery, guess, and goat.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so have fun searching for something that begins with the /g/ sound.         *  In Math, we continue to work on Unit 3: Geometry and Measurement.  Students have learned about 3D shapes and have to describe and sort them.       *  On Wednesday, January 29th, our Kindergarten class will be going on a field trip to the Miramichi Regional Hospital.  The bus will be leaving at approximately 9:00 and arriving back to the school at approximately 11:00.  A snack will be provided to the kids while we are there.       *  Please remember to have your child read their guided reading book every night and continue to practice their sight words.  The more they read, the more fluent their reading will become.   *  On Friday, January 31st, the Leadership students are holding a "Bring your Electronic to School Day".  The cost to bring your electronic to school is $1.00.  Students will be able to play their device at recess and during a half hour that is designated by the teacher for play.  All proceeds will go to purchasing new playground equipment.

Here a few things to keep in mind for this week:   *  In Literacy, we will be working on the letter D d.  Some words that begin with this letter are dinosaur, diary, DS, dougnut, dog, duck, diamond, daisy, dalmation, deer, dream, and deep.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so have fun hunting for something that begins with the /d/ sound.     *  In Math, we will begin Unit 3: Exploring Geometry and Measurement.  The kids usually love this unit.  There will be lots of hands on learning.       *  Please remember that we have Library every Thursday so students should have their Library book on that day.  Also, please remind your child that his/her Library book should always be kept in the Library bag whenever they are not reading it.  Thanks.       *  I will not be sending home guided reading books this week because I am testing for new levels.  Thanks for your understanding.  Students can read the books that were sent home last week.

Here are a few things happening this week: *  In Literacy, we will be working on the letter M m...isn't that marvelous?  Some other words that begin with this letter are monkey, money, Mommy, mother, mustache, marker, mustang, moose, music, master, mouse, and muffin.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so good luck finding something that begins with the /m/ sound.  *  Please remember to have your child read every night and practice their sight words on a regular basis.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Here are a few things happening this week: *  In Literacy, we will be working on the letter R r.  What can you think of that begins with this letter?  Well, let me help you...robot, reindeer, Ryan, radio, rabbit, rooster, rain, rainbow, rubber, and run.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so happy hunting for something that begins with the letter R r.  We will also have Show and Tell for something you got for Christmas.  This does not have to begin with the letter R r. *  In Math we are still working on numbers 1-5. *  On Wednesday, January,8th, all Kindergarten students will be going skating at the LBA.  Please remember that all students require skates and a proper helmet.  Bicycle helmets are not allowed.

We made it to last week of school before Christmas.  The Fall went by so quickly.  Here are a few things happening this week: *  In Literacy this week, we will be reviewing what we already learned this fall.  We will also be doing some Christmas activities.  There will be no homework this week except for reading every night and reviewing sight words. *  Our Christmas Concert is on Tuesday, December 17th.  The K-2 concert begins at 9:00 in the gym and the 3-5 concert begins at 12:30.  Please be aware of taking photos and posting them on social media.  Please read the memo I posted on my teacher page or on the home page.  *  We will be having our 4th Annual Cocoa House on Wednesday, December 18th at 6:15 pm.  This is a time where family and friends can sing Christmas carols together, tell Christmas jokes, play the piano/recorder/guitar, etc.  Cookies and hot chocolate will be served.  There will be a dessert auction beforehand in the cafeteria.  All proceeds will go to a Saint Andrew's family.  There will also be a Christmas Photo booth set up in the gym for anyone who would like a family/friend picture taken.  All photos will be $5 for a 5X7 print.  Please come out and support and have fun. *  Also on Wednesday, we will be watching the "Polar Express".  The classroom will be transformed into a train and all Kindergarten students can wear their pajamas to school.  We will be doing related activities on the Polar Express beforehand. *  Friday, December, 20th is our last day of school before Christmas.  I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and I hope that 2014 brings each of you health and happiness.  Thank you for all of your support you have given so far this year.  It is truly appreciated!

The Kindergarten kids are reciting the following poem at the Christmas Concert.  We have been practicing every day but would also like for the kids to practice it at home.       My Peppermint Stick Oh, I took a lick Of my peppermint stick, And I thought it tasted yummy. It used to be On my Christmas tree, But now it's in my tummy.

Here are a few things happening this week:   **Please note that this will be the last week for homework until after Christmas.  I will still like students to read each night and review their sight words.  I will send home a book with a reading log sheet.   *  In Literacy, we will be working on the letter H h.  Hooray!  There are so many exciting words that begin with the letter H h, such as, helicopter, hippo, horse, honey, Hayden, house, hands, hips, and happy.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so have fun hunting for something that begins with the /h/ sound.   *  In Math we are still working on numbers 1-5.   *  We have enough pop bottles now so there is no need to send anymore in.  Thank you.   *  A few reminders about next week: December 17th - Christmas Concert (9:00 for K-2 and 12:30 for 3-5) December 18th - Storm Date for Christmas Concert & Cocoa House beginning at 6:15.  This is where students and family members get to show off their talents. December 20th - Last day of school for Christmas break

Wow!!  It's December already!  Here are a few things to remember for this week and the coming weeks. *  In Literacy this week we will be working on the letter E e.  This is another hard working vowel because it has 2 sounds.  The short E e can be found in words such as, Ellie, elephant, egg, eggplant, excellent, elk,  elm, elbow, entrance, envelope, and elevator.  Some words that begin with the long E e are Ethan, each, eel, easel, eat, email, evening, Egypt, and  equal.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so have fun hunting for something that begins with the letter E e. *  In Math, we are still working on the numbers 1-5, making different combinations of each. *  Scholastic book orders are due on December 6th.  Please remember that if you want to order something for Christmas, just let me know and I will not send it home with your child.  *  For a Christmas craft, I am asking everyone to please send in a 2L pop bottle.  If you can send in more than one, that would be great.  Please have them in by December 13th.  Thanks!  *  Please mark your calenders for the following dates:December 17th - Christmas Concert December 18th - Storm Date for Christmas Concert and Cocoa HouseDecember 20th - Last Day for students for Christmas break

Here are a few things happening this week in and around our Kindergarten class: *In Literacy this week, we will be working on the letter K k.  Some words that begin with this letter are Katherine, Kaden, kite, kitten, kazoo, ketchup, Kindergarten, kind, king, kangaroo, kettle, kingdom, and kiss.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so happy hunting for something that begins with the /k/ sound.   *In Math, we are working on numbers 1-5, creating sets, and making combinations of each.   *We are still collecting items for the Food Bank.  Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated.  For each item brought in, that student’s name is entered for a prize.   *Friday, November 29th- Jersey Day & Awards Day for students   *Some upcoming & important dates to remember are: December 17th – Christmas Concert.  Younger students will put on their shows in the morning and the older kids will be performing after lunch. Decemember 18th – Christmas Concert snow date & Cocoa House in the evening. December 20th – Last day of school for Christmas break

Here are a few important things happening this week: *In Literacy, we will be working on the letter C c.  Can you think of anything that begins with the letter C c?  Well, I can help you…can, cup, cupid, Chloe, Colby, computer, card, and carrot.  Show and Tell will be on Thursday this week so have fun searching for something with the /c/ sound.   *In Math, we are still working on numbers 1-5 and making different combinations of each.   *The Scholastic Book Fair begins this week.  On Tuesday, November 19th, classes will be able to view and purchase books from the fair.  The Book Fair will also be open on Wednesday, November 20th and Thursday, November 21st, in the evening from 6-8 pm.  Each child can fill out the ballot that was sent home on the Book Fair flyer.   *On Wednesday, November 20th, we are celebrating Anti-Bullying Week.  We are asking everyone to wear blue on Wednesday.   *Report cards go home on Thursday, November 21st.  Parent/teacher interviews will be held Thursday evening and Friday morning.  Your appointment time will be sent home with your child’s report card.   *There is NO SHCHOOL on Friday, November 22nd due to Parent/Teacher interviews and Professional Development for teachers.   *We are still accepting donations for the Food Bank.  There was a list sent home of items the Food Bank was in need of.  You can send items in at any time.  Anything you can send it would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Here are a few things happening this week: *In Literacy, we will be working on the letter N n.  Isn’t that neat?  Some words that begin with this sound are nice, Nicholas, Niomi, number, new, November, noodles, nickel, nurse, nest, and necklace.  Show and Tell will be on Friday.  Please remember that I would like you to find something from home to bring in.  Have fun hunting for something that begins with the /n/ sound.   *In Math we are working on numbers 1-5 and making combinations of each.    *On Wednesday, November 13th, both Kindergarten classes will be going skating at the LBA.  Each student must have skates AND a helmet in order to participate. Those who need skates, please let me know by Tuesday and I will try to fit your child into a pair.  It is also a good idea for students to wear snow pants and mittens because the rink is very cold.   *Please remember to review sight words on a daily basis and to read every night.  Reading consistently will help with fluency.   *Parent/teacher interview sheets were sent home last week.  Please send these back as soon as you can so I can make appointment times.   *Scholastic Book Orders are due on Friday, November 15th.  Books make a great Christmas gift.
