Another week has passed and soon it will be the end of February.  Can you believe it!  Here's what is happening this week.     *  We are working on another hard working vowel...the letter Uu.  The short Uu starts words such as umbrella, unhappy, under, and up.  The long Uu says it's own name and starts words such as uniform, unicef, and unicorn.  Show and Tell will be on Friday.  Happy hunting for something that has the /u/ sound.     *  In Math, we will be finishing up with 3D shapes and moving on to Measurement.     *  Tuesday, Feb. 14th - Happy Valentine's Day.  We will have our party today, beginning at 12:30.  Before then, we will make and decorate our Valentine's Day bag at school.         *  This year an interim report is not going home, but Mrs. Schofield and I have made up one for our students to show you their progress to date.  This will be going home on Monday, Feb. 13th.   *  So You Think You Can Dance Competition is taking place on Thursday, February 16th.   *  We will be celebrating the 100th Day of School on Friday, February 17th.  Students can bring their collection of 100 things on this day.  We will be celebrating in the gym in the morning and then going on parade to show off our hard work.

A class list has already been sent home if you choose to send Valentines in for each person in the class.  I have also attached a copy if you misplaced it.  We will be having a Valentine’s Day party on Tuesday afternoon, beginning at 12:30 if you want to join us.  This is when we will hand out all the Valentines.  If you want to bring in treats, you are more than welcome, but do not feel that you have to.

Welcome to another new week.  Here are a few things to remember this week:   *  We will be working with the letter Oo this week.  O is a very hard working vowel because, like all other vowels, it has two sounds.  The short Oo sound is our Zoo Phonics sounds and can be found in words like Ollie, octapus, otter, and other.  The long Oo sound says its own name and can be found in words like open, ocean, oval, opal, over, and old.  Have lots of fun searching for something that has the short or long /o/ sound.  We will have Show and Tell on Friday.     *  This week in Math we will be making some 3D shapes.  It's going to be fun!     *  Our class is going snowshoeing Monday morning from 8:30-9:30 for Phys. Ed., so I ask that each child have his/her snowpants, boots, a hat, and mitts.

Hello everyone and welcome back to our site.  It has been a while now that we were not able to post anything or keep you up-to-date on things happening in the classroom, but I promise, I will do my best to get you all updated over the next couple of days.  Here are a few things to remember for this week.   *  Our letter of the week is Gg.  This is a letter that has two sounds.  The hard sound of Gg starts with words like gorilla, grape, gorgeous, and gum.  The soft sound of Gg starts with words like giraffe, ginger, gentle, gym, and giant.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so have fun finding something that has the /g/ sound.       * We are still working on Exploring Geometry and Measurement in Math class.  So far, we learned about the 3D shapes cube, cylinder, sphere, rectangular prism, cone, and pyramid.  We sorted these and even got to build with them.  Soon, we will get to make some.     *  Middle Island Clusters begins this Friday, Feb. 3.  All students have been put into a group and for an hour each week, they will learn more about the cluster they chose and how it relates to Middle Island.
