Here are a few updates for Wednesday, October 31st:   *  Children can wear their costumes to school on Wednesday if they want to or they can get dressed up before the Halloween Jamboree begins.      *  We will be carving some pumpkins on Wednesday morning.  If you want to donate a pumpkin to the class, please send one in.  Your son or daughter will then take that pumpkin home with them at the end of the day.  We will more than likely be working in groups so everyone will have a chance to carve a little bit.  We will not need more than 4 pumpkins.     *  Because we will not have much time after the Jamboree, we will be having a little Halloween party after recess, at about 10:30.  If you want to be in a little treat you are more than welcome, but do not feel that you have to.

Here are a few things happening this week.   * We are learning about the letter P p this week.  Isn't that perfect?  There are so many words that begin with the letter P p, such as, peguin, pirate, pebble, purse, pocket, paper, plate, pants, page, pickle, and popsicle.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so happy hunting for something with the /p/ sound.     *  In Math, we are still working on more, fewer, and as many as.   *  On Wednesday, October 31st, beginning after lunch recess, we will be having our Halloween Jamboree.  Students are allowed to wear their costumes to school or they can put it on before the Jamboree begins.  We will also be having a little Halloween party after morning recess.     *  Library books are due back on Mondays so please make sure it is in your child's bookbag.

Here are a few things happening this week.   *  In Literacy, we will be working with the letter I i this week.  The letter I i is a hard working vowel because it has two sounds.  The short i sound is the sound of our Zoo Phonics animal, Inny Inchworm and can also be heard in words such as, inch, ill, it, is, in, lick, bit, and dip.  The long i sound says its own name and can be found in words such as, ice, iceburg, idea, rice, hive, smile, and bride.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so have fun searching with something that begins with the /i/ sound.   *  In Math, the kids are learning about more, fewer, and as many as.  They are catching on fast and doing a wonderful job.   *  Interim Reports go home on Wednesday, Oct. 24th so please look for them in your child's bookbag and sign and return the bottom portion.
