Here are few things happening this week.    *  In Literacy, we will be working on the letter H h.  Lots of words begin with this letter, such as, honey, horse, happy, handsome, house, hand, hole, and hook.  This will also be the last week for homework before Christmas.  We would like students to continue with daily reading and sight words review.  We will resume homework when we return after the holidays.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so happy hunting for something with the /h/ sound.   *  In Math we are still working on the numbers 1-5.   *  The Christmas Dinner is on Tuesday, Dec. 4th.  The cost of this is $3.50.  Orders are due by Monday, Dec. 3rd.   *  Scholastic Book Orders are due on Wednesday, Dec. 5th.        *  We have skating on Wednesday, Dec. 5th.  All students must have skates and a helmet in order to participate.  Please let me know before Wednesday if your child requires skates and/or a helmet.  The bus will be leaving the school at approximately 8:35-8:40 and arriving at the LBA at approximately 8:45.  Parents are welcome to meet us at the rink to help tie skates.     *  Some important dates in December to remember are:   Tuesday, Dec. 11th - K-3 Christmas Concert in the school gym, beginning at 9:00 am.  The concert for grades 4&5 will begin at 12:30 pm.  The storm date will be Friday, Dec. 14th.   Thursday, Dec. 13th - The Christmas Cocoa House.  There will be a dessert auction taking place before the festivities begin so come early and make some bids.   Friday, Dec. 21st - Last Day before Christmas break.  This is a full day for both staff and students.

WOW!  Only a month left until Christmas and we made it through the first round of parent/teacher interviews.  Thank you to everyone who came.  Here are few things happening this week:   *In Literacy this week, we will be working on the letter E e.  Exciting isn’t it?  This letter is a hard working vowel because it has two sounds; short /e/ can be found in words such as elephant, exercise, excellent and Ellie.  The long /e/ says its own name and can be found in words such as enormous, each, eagle, eel, and equal.  Show and Tell will be on Friday so have fun searching for something that starts with the letter E e.     *In Math we are still working on the numbers 1 to 5 and working on different combinations of each.     *Scholastic Book Orders will be going home this week and will be due back on Dec. 5th.  If there is anything that you want to order for your child for Christmas as a present, please send me a little note with the book order and I will keep the order aside for pick up or delivery in a thick envelop.  Books make a wonderful Christmas present!
