Hello everyone and welcome back to our site. It has been a while now that we were not able to post anything or keep you up-to-date on things happening in the classroom, but I promise, I will do my best to get you all updated over the next couple of days. Here are a few things to remember for this week.
* Our letter of the week is Gg. This is a letter that has two sounds. The hard sound of Gg starts with words like gorilla, grape, gorgeous, and gum. The soft sound of Gg starts with words like giraffe, ginger, gentle, gym, and giant. Show and Tell will be on Friday so have fun finding something that has the /g/ sound.
* We are still working on Exploring Geometry and Measurement in Math class. So far, we learned about the 3D shapes cube, cylinder, sphere, rectangular prism, cone, and pyramid. We sorted these and even got to build with them. Soon, we will get to make some.
* Middle Island Clusters begins this Friday, Feb. 3. All students have been put into a group and for an hour each week, they will learn more about the cluster they chose and how it relates to Middle Island.

Hello everyone. The website has been down for a few days so we are now happy that it is up and running. Here are a few things happening this week.
* We are working on the letter Dd this week. Show and Tell will be on Friday so I hope everyone does a dynamic job digging around the house for something that begins with the /d/ sound.
* In Math, we continue to work on the Exploring Geometry and Measurement Unit. Students are having fun learning about the different 3D shapes.
* We will be celebrating Family Literacy Day on Friday, January 27th by reading books together. The teachers may even put on a little show for the students in support of this.

* For homework this week, we will be working on the letter Hh. Show and Tell will be on Friday so happy hunting for something that begins with the /h/ sound.
* In Math, we will be starting a new unit: Geometry.

The Christmas break is fast approaching. Here are a few things to remember this week.
* We will be reviewing letters that we already introduced so we won't be introducing a new one this week. There will be no homework this week.
* We will be reading the Polar Express on Wednesday, doing some related activities, and watching the movie. We will send home a note to remind you. We will transform the classroom so students can have a train ride. They can come to school dressed in their pajamas. We will also have our Christmas party in the afternoon, beginning at 12:45. Parents are welcome to come.
* Thursday is Movie Day in the gym.
* Friday is only a half day. Pick-ups will be dismissed from the cafeteria and bus students will be dismissed from the gym.
I hope you all have a happy and healthy holiday season. Merry Christmas.
