January 2011 Dear Family,  As a new year begins, I would like to take this time to fill you in on what we will be covering in Math over the next two months.   During this time your child will be learning about addition. The Learning Goals for this unit are to: ·        Learn more about the meaning of numbers. ·        Recognize that addition involves joining groups. ·        Use counters and other real-life materials to help solve simple number problems. ·        Practise using addition to write and solve number problems. ·        Describe the thinking involved in solving simple number problems. ·        Use mental-math strategies to add. *Mental-math is working out in your head without pencil and paper.   Subtraction will be introduced after students have gained a solid understating of addition.

November 2, 2010 Hi Parents,             I have received the November and December Scholastic book orders and will be sending them home next week. If you do not want to receive these order forms, please send me a note as I can easily leave them out of your child’s homework folder. If you are placing a Christmas order and want the books kept at school to be picked up without your child knowing, please let me know.             Mrs. Comeau will not be setting up appointments for the upcoming Parent/Teacher Interviews, but if you have a preferred time, please let me know and we will try to accommodate you. If your child worked with Mrs. Underhill this term, she will only be at our school on Friday morning from 9-11:30am. Thank you, Mr. Williston
