WE FOUND THE MEDAL.    A student from our class won a silver medal in a ski tournament and it has been misplaced at school today.  If the medal has shown up in your child's bookbag by mistake, could you please send it back to school.  Thank you so much!!

The letter for the week is 'U'.  This is another hard working letter because it makes two sounds.  It has a short vowel sound and a long vowel sound.  The short vowel sound is the sound we hear in Zoo Phonics... /u/ as in umbrella.  The long vowel sound says its own name, as in unicorn.  Remember that Show and Tell is on Friday and students can bring in something that starts with the /u/ sound.  Have fun!!     One thing we forgot to mention in our Notes for February was that we have skating on Wednesday, February 9th.  We will also send a notice home as a reminder.  Students must have skates and a helmet in order to participate.  They can't go on the ice otherwise.

We will be having a jersey day on Friday, February 4 to show support for the Miramichi Rotary Pond Hockey Tournament.   So if your child has a jersey, let him/her wear it on Friday.

The letter of the week is the letter "O".  This is a hard working letter because it has two sounds...long and short.  The short 'o' sounds like Olive Octapus from Zoo Phonics and the long 'o' says it's own name.  We will have Show and Tell on Friday so make sure to bring in something with the /o/ sound.  Have fun!     A notice was sent home regarding the sentence envelopes your child brings home every week.  We have 20 different envelopes that we rotate each week.  It is very important that they are returned each week so your child can receive a new one.  Please keep them in the Book Buddy Bags.   A new Mango Challenge has started this week.  The challenge is to encourage students to eat a healthy snack for recess.  This will help give them energy.  We have a sticker chart in the classroom to keep track of the healthy snacks.  A class prize (per school) will be given to the class with the highest percent of class participation.   This is Ms. Pickford's last week in our Kindergarten classroom.  Her last day will be Friday.  We will surely miss her.  We will then welcome Ms. Mullen into our classroom and she will be with us until the end of the school year.+

Scholastic Book Orders were due today but because of the school being cancelled, they will be due tomorrow, Friday (28th).

Our letter of the week is 'g'.  We missed last weeks show and tell because of the storm, so hopefully we will be able to see all the great things that start with the /g/ sound on Friday this week.       There IS school this Friday, January 28.  There was an error in the October newsletter stating that there was a CI Day on Friday, but it is not until Feb. 28.  So...there is school on Friday.

The letter of the week is 'd'.  Remember that we will be having show and tell on Friday so bring in something that begins with the /d/ sound.  Happy hunting.       We no longer go outside during the short recess because there is too much clothing for students to get on for such a short recess.  Students will be staying in for this recess until the snow goes away.   Scholastic Book orders went out this week.  They are due back next Thursday, January 27/11.   We are doing running records at the beginning of this week so students will not be getting a new guided reading book until Wednesday or Thursday.

We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to school tomorrow and we hope everyone had a nice and relaxing holiday.   The letter of the week is the letter 'm'.  We will have show and tell on Friday so think of something that starts with the /m/ sound to bring in to show everyone.       We know that students are excited about what they got from Santa.  We will have a special show and tell next week for that.  We will let you know what day this will take place.
