Wow!!  It's April already.  Can you believe it!!   The letter of the week is Vv.  Vincent the Vampire Bat will be happy that his letter is finally here.  There are all kinds of words that begin with the letter Vv, such as, vulture, victory, violin, Viola, vacation, vacuum, volume, vendor, vegetables, village, vanilla, and voice, just to name a few.       We will be going to Breau's Maple Syrup Camp in Barryville this Friday, April 8th.  A permission slip will be going home on Monday.  We will be providing pancakes for lunch for those who want them.  If your child does not like pancakes, he/she will have to bring a bagged lunch on that day.  We are looking for some parent volunteers to help serve the pancakes and help assist with the tour.  We will be leaving the school at 10:30, to arrive at the camp at approximately 11:00.  We will do the tour of the camp and then lunch will be served around 12:00.  We will then be heading back to the school after that.  This is a small camp that will provide students an opportunity to learn how maple syrup is made.  There will be no maple syrup to purchase but they will let the children try taffee on a stick.  It's going to be fun...let's get excited!!

The letter for the week is 'l'.  We will have show and tell on Friday so bring in something that has the /l/ sound.  Have fun!       We will have our Valentine's Day party in the afternoon on Monday.  We decorated our bags on Friday so they are all set to receive valentines from friends.  You may send treats in with your child but please, do not feel that you have to.  We had so much at Christmas time.     It is very important that students read every night.  This helps to become better readers, to get better with fluency, and to recognize sight words.  Some students are bringing home more books.  These can be read throughtout the week.    Please remember to have your child's Guided Reading bag in their bookbags every day so they can give back their old book to get a new one.
