The month of September will soon be behind us. We have had a great first month en 3e année. The month of October will be fill with many fun Halloween activities. Stay tuned :)French - This week we will review oral structures taught to date. We will continue with:1) "Ma grandeur"...my height2) "Ce que j'aime à l'école"...what I like at school3) "Ce que je n'aime pas à l'école"...what I donot like at school.Nightly on the sheet the particular book that have read that night. Books need to be returned DAILY so that they can continue to read all 17 books. Once completed, we will commence "guided reading" and "Daily 5"Likewise, we continue to learn new letters and sounds en Francais. The ltters J, CH, F, R, and M will be sent home (1 per/night) to read and practice. Friday we will have a quiz on the "mot courants" words found in the box on the bottom of the sheet. If you are wondering, the quiz words for Friday  are the same on all 5 sheets. Math - There will be a quiz on number recognition (50-80) on Wednesday. Please continue to refer to my posted math web links and practice, practice, practice J We continue to work on our Numbers unit. Students arelearning many new terms in French. Our objective continues to be read/representing numbers greater than 100, skip counting to 100, place value, and estimation. Students also received a math textbook. Textbooks are new to students,so they are being taught how to read the books then transfer and answer questions from the text to their binders. Notices:1)  Please check my teacher page, reading bag's, and agenda's nightly for any notices, homework, etc.2)  Scholastic orders have been placed.   Welcome back. I must admit that your children are doing well and I am very pleased with their results thus far. It is very special to be learning a second language. Stayed tuned for a special video presentation early in the week. French – This week students will continue to concentrate on what makes them unique. Discussions, readings and written activities will incorporate the following:       -       I have x hair…”J’ai les cheveux x” -       I have x eyes…”J’ai les yeux x” -       I am bigger and/or smaller than…”Je suis plus grand (e) que, plus petit (e) que etc.  Of special note, each Friday we will commence spelling tests on the words studied in class during Word Work. At present, we are concentrating on sight words. Spelling words will not be sent home as they are practiced extensively in class throughout our daily activities. They have also seen and practiced all the vowels. Please continue to read the vowel practice sheets that was sent home Friday. Today we will begin working on “s” and so on. Each sound sheet will be sent home nightly to practice until completion. Math – There will be a quiz on number recognition (0-50) on Wednesday. Please continue to refer to my posted math web links and practice, practice, practice J We will also begin our unit on numbers. Aside from learning the terminology in French, our objective is to read/represent numbers greater than 100, skip count to 100, place value, and estimation. Reminders:-       Grandparents concert Tuesday -       Scholastic orders due Friday -       Fall Fair Friday after school. There has also been a notice for volunteers to aid in setting up and taking down the inflatable play set from Big Brothers and Sisters. If you can donate your time either before or after the event please send me a note. French - This week's theme will be "Friends" Students will learn to present a friend to the class. Phrases that they will learn include: "I have a friend...his/her name is", "Do you have a friend?...what is his/her name?", "Is your friend a boy or girl?" etc.We will continue to work with the colour theme as we progress to learn new school and class vocabulary items. Our word wall continues to grow and students are making great gains.Likewise, we have moved on from the vowel A in our reading and writing activities and are now concentrating on the vowels E, I, O, and U. These sheets will be sent home on Monday to practice. Please take time to practice the words found on the bottom of the vowel sheets as well. You will notice that they are the same on each sheet. These particular words have also been added to our class word wall. We also continue to read collectively as a group. In the coming days, books will begin to be sent home. Your child may not recognize/retain everything as of yet, but please encourage them read the title, look at the pictures, and continue with a sentence or page if they get hung up on a word.Math - This week our focus will be on pronoucing numbers from 20-50. Please refer to the videos I have posted on my page to aid your child. Next week, we will continue with number recognition and pronounciation in order to begin to tackle our counting objectives of 2, 3, 5, etc in math.Reminders:- Reading bags need to be returned daily- Terry Fox walk this Friday- Scholastic orders due Sept 27thIf you have any question,comments, and/or concerns please feel free to write me an e-mail or contact the school. The "Dans mon sac d'école" book was sent home in student reading bags today. We have been practicing this book since Monday. Students are to read the book tonight and tomorrow. Please ensure that your child returns the book in their reading bag on Friday :)

I am pleased to announce that your son/daughter is well on their way to becoming bilingual. We had a fantastic first week. Students learned the following oral structures:- Bonjour, je m'appelle- Comment t'appelle-tu?- Quel âge as-tu?- En quelle année es-tu?We also spent some time learning school vocabulary, colours, days of the week, and numbers up to twenty. We finished our week with a journal entry incorporating the above structures. Bravo les amis a Mr.Glazier :)

Monday Sept 16 @ 7 p.m. myself and Mlle.Comeau will be holding an information meeting for parents of students in grade 3 French Immersion downstairs in my classroom. The meeting will be in regards to the immersion program followed by any questions and/or concerns you may have.
