It was 35 summers ago that a young man from British Columbia
captivated Canadians with his determination, commitment and energy to find a
cure for cancer. His name was Terry Fox.
This year, our school will be holding its fourteenth annual fundraising walk to
commemorate Terry’s inspirational Marathon
of Hope.
On Thursday, October
1st, St. Andrew’s students and staff will be walking to Waterford Green. The K-3 students will
be walking at 12:30 pm and the 4-5 classes at 1:30 pm.
Terry has inspired millions to find a cure for cancer. Show

Elementary
Literacy Friends (Elf) is a supplementary volunteer-based reading achievement
program that helps Grade 2 students who would benefit from additional one-on-one
reading activities after school. Elf
provides training, materials, and all of the support necessary for each
volunteer to make a positive, lifelong impact on a student.
Volunteers
do not need previous teaching experience; only a willingness to help and commit
to the Elf requirements.
Following
an initial 3-hour training session, the volunteer is matched with a student.
Our school ‘Open House’ is tonight, starting at 6pm. Please
come and learn about our school, the PSSC, Home and School and you can even meet
your child’s teacher.
Our school had its first practice lockdown drill of the year.
The students and staff did very well following the procedures we have been
working on over the first week of school.
Thank you
