Hey there students and families of 3C!   I was away for training on Tuesday and Wednesday this week and am very proud of our class for how they  behaved and worked while I was away.  The substitute teacher was very pleased and said she loved our class!  Bravo! This week in French:  Students had a great review of the sentence structures learned so far, while also continuing on with reading new books and learning about new sounds (ou, oi, qu & z).  We still talking about our families and working away on our autobiographies.  We will be writing about our families very soon, then we will move on to discussing our birthdays & putting the finishing touches on our books! This week in math: Students are moving along great with unit two: skip counting, modeling, comparing, ordering and estimating numbers to 1000.  We have worked a lot with base ten blocks, and the new vocabulary for this unit.  We have some great little mathmeticians in 3C, keep it up!  Next lesson will be comparing and ordering numbers ().Every night remember to read a book or two, practice your new sound and check for any notices.*Spelling quizzes and math tests should be signed and returned the next day*Parent teacher interview forms are due tomorrow, so that we can schedule in all of our 3C families.  Even if you can't make it, please let me know in your student's agenda or on the notice itself.  *Book orders are due Monday!

French:  We are discussing our families and continuing to write our autobiographies.  This week we have started Daily 5!  Everyone is doing a great job too!  "Read to self" (lecture à soi) has been going great.  Read to someone is on the agenda for Thursday & Friday and i'm sure that will go great as well.  For sounds, we are almost done the alphabet and moving on to some common sounds we have already seen in our reading and writing (eau/au/o/ô & on/om).  Math:  The class did very well on the first unit test and we are jumping right into "Numbers to 1000" (place value, base ten blocks, pictures, money etc.)  For this unit it is important to be confident with numbers to 100 as we will be seeing big numbers regularly. Homework Read nightly (record on reading sheet)Practice new letter/soundMath sheet (First part Wednesday & second part Thursday night)**Several notices went home today regarding: Scholastic book orders (Due Nov. 18th), Upcoming Book FairSkating schedule (Dec. 18th is our first trip to the rink)Our Remembrance Day ceremony will take place Friday morning.

Besides their regular letter/sound & book to read, the kids were super excited to bring home their "big kid math books" today! They have 2 questions to TRY!(pg.11, #1 & 4)#1 - The book gives them a pattern rule and they need to draw a pattern that matches the rule. (à partir de 4 carreaux, ajoute 2 carreaux chaque fois = Starting with 4 squares, add 2 squares each time.)#4 - The book shows them 3 out of 4 pictures in a pattern.  They need to draw what they think the missing 3rd picture would look like!We have done several examples of similar questions and gone over the homework in class.  Give it a try, and have a nice evening!

I'm sure your kids have mentionned that we have been filming videos of our progress but I (Mme Comeau) am not as technologically advanced as I thought I was.  Figuring out the equipment and program took me a bit longer than I had hoped.  I have it all figured out and almost ready to go, but I am missing one completed video before I can post it.  Keep an eye out on Monday evening for some great little French speakers; after their first month at school. Have a great weekend!                                                Bonne fin de semaine!
