It's the last week before the holiday break already! Time flies when you're having fun!Important reminders for this week:- Christmas Concert is tomorrow (Tuesday, Dec. 17) at 12:30pm in the gymnasium- Grade 3 goes skating Wednesday (Dec. 18) morning.  Leaving the school at 8:30am until 1st recess. Skates and helmet required to be on the ice. Students may sign out a helmet Wednesday morning, from the office, and return it when we return to the school, if need be.In French this week, we are finishing up loose ends on our projects, talking about Christmas plans/traditions and reviewing all we have done so far. In Math, we are looking at the relationship between addition and subtraction (they are opposites) and working with addition/subtraction equations.    I hope everyone has a happy, restful holiday filled with family, friends and lots of cheer!

In math last week, we started doing our doubles and basic addition facts in preparation for this week; the beginning of the addition/subtraction unit. We will only begin this unit in the days left before the holidays but will get some basics covered before we go! Math sheets will be Tuesday and Thursday. I will try to post an English version here again in case parents need to glance at it! In French we are reviewing all sentence structures to date, while reading and writing lots.  Our Autobiographies are almost ready and we are really getting into Super 5! (Daily 5)  We are also talking about Christmas and getting ready for the Christmas concert Dec. 17 at 12:30p.  Hope to see you there! Each night your child should be reading & recording the title on their 'lecture' sheet. We have finished our sound sheets but we will still be having weekly spelling test.  Only 5 words a week.  These will be words that students are often misspelling.

Please only use this an aid for your child's homework.  Their test Wednesday will have French instructions they will need to follow.  Of course, I will be there to help them, however I will do so without translating to English.

Hello family members of 3C! It was looking quite festive outside, with all that fluffy snow we got on the weekend.  Now with the rain it is really looking like a Miramichi winter! This week in French classes, we are finishing up the good copies of our autobiographies and starting a new unit about our hobbies & pastimes.  This will be our last week with the daily sound sheets.  We will continue to review sounds in class and periodically for homework.  Reading each night continues.  Students will have a guided reading book they can practice each night plus another book of their choice. This week in Math we just finished up our last lesson in ‘Numbers to 1000’.  We have been estimating, getting an idea of how big 1000 really is and skip counting.  Tonight students have review questions to try in preparations for the test on Wednesday.  All questions should be familiar to students; we have worked on them for homework and/or in class work throughout this unit.  The English version will be uploaded shortly (I made several changes/shortened the French one and need to make the English one to match now.)My English students (Mr. Glazier's class) - We have started some guided reading in Enlgish class.  If your child brought home a book this evening, they are to read Ch. 1 over again tonight. Have a great week!  And as always, if you have any questions, concerns let me know!

I just wanted to remind students that our spelling/# quiz for this week's words will be on Monday, Dec. 2.   These words are practiced daily in class in a variety of ways.  (I also use this opportunity to quiz student's comprehension of numbers to 1000.)Students should also be looking at them for homework each night, as they are on their sound sheets (The box on the bottom left hand side).   As the quiz will be falling on a Monday, we will start the day with our normal review of the words and then the quiz will be held in the afternoon. This week's words are: y, s'/se, il vient, elle dit, votre, vos, lui, plus.  As our quizzes always have 9 words to spell, I added cahier & école, as possibilities for the 9th spot.  Students have already seen, spoken, read and written both of the added words throughout the year and they are both practiced along with the other spelling words each day in class.Have a great weekend!

First - My apologies!  I stayed late yesterday to write up & post detailed instructions and tips for last night's math homework, I even double checked how it looked on the site after I posted it.  Today I went to show the students where it was and it was gone!  It was there yesterday! So, sorry.Second - The students all did great, despite technology, when we went over lesson 6 today in class.Third - Thursday's homework:              Lesson 7 (bottom half of wroksheet)             #1 - Students are asked to write, using words, the amount of money they see. (i.e. un dollar et quinze cents)            #2 - Students are asked to show (draw or explain) what coins Josiane could have if she has one dollar and thirty cents in all identical coins. (i.e. all nickles, all quarter, whatever works.) Have fun!
