The Poison Pill Game is a two-player game where there are 21 counters (pills) in front of the players. Each player can take 1 or 2 ‘pills’ on their turn. The person who is left with the last pill on their turn must take it, and lose! To change the game, two players play but, each can take from 1...Read more

Holy Moly the week certainly flew by! We are really becoming better at getting into the classroom and starting our morning routines! Homework duo tangs were passed in today along with our borrowed books! Thanks you! In Language Arts the children are building their stamina during Daily Five! Today they read for 4 ½ minutes today without interruption! Well done B&G’s! It was also Fluency Friday today. This is the day that we read to a partner, the books we took home all week. Then, some of the children read their books to the class. Mrs. Comeau and I were really fascinated with the fabulous fluent readers!! In Math it was game day!! The children were quite excited to learn how to play poison pill! Can you teach your parents how to play boys and girls? You have to strategize in order to win! This afternoon we had music and then we made owls out of torn up paper in art! You can check them out in our image gallery! I think it is going to be a lovely week end everyone so get outside and be sure to bring a topic in your pocket for Monday!!!

Hi everyone! It was another great day here at St. Andrew’s! This morning we had Language Arts and the time flew by. We were busy bees! Ms. Gallant read another story by Kevin Henkes, Wemberly Worried. What did she worry about? There were many feeling words in this book. Do you remember any? Mrs. Comeau got us up and ready to go with the IPICK song! It really gets us energized and ready to learn. I even heard some children singing as they left school this afternoon. In Math we are continuing to work and numbers and the grade 2’s gathered more information for a new graph they are getting ready to create. Mrs. Robinson had a really cool experiment over at the grade 2 table and the children were making predictions as to what would happen to object when it was dropped in the water. Did it float or sink grade 2? We also had a lock down today and the children were absolutely awesome!! There was a notice that went home tonight in regards to the lockdown for parents to look through! Please check your child’s homework folder each night for any notices or forms that you may need to read or fill out! I hope everyone has a nice night, a great sleep, and I will see you in the morning!

Good morning everyone! We launched our reading groups yesterday, picked our own short stories for our reading boxes, and practiced the first part of our reading program, Daily Five. Do you remember what it was called girls and boys? (Read to Self).  Mrs. Comeau taught us a really groovy song to help us pick our books!! Were you singing it to your family last night? I was practicing at the supper table with my family! They thought it was pretty good J ! We also put up five sight words on our word wall and made up a song for them too! Boy oh boy does Mrs. Comeau like to sing! It makes things so much more fun to learn!! In grade 1 Math class, we modeled our number of the day in different ways, continued to practice counting to 20, making different groups with a given number, and explored different ways to make patterns with snap cubes and found the part that repeats! The grade two’s learned how to gather information about themselves and others to answer questions. They are learning how to create graphs with Mrs. Robinson! Do you remember the names of the graph’s you will be creating grade 2? (Pictographs and concrete graphs) In You and Your World Ms. Gallant went over our bus safety rules and we wrote down one rule that we remembered and then began to color our buses, then it was off to the gym for Phys. Ed. ! What did you do in there yesterday boys and girls? This evening we will have our open house. This is where everyone will have a chance to meet the other teachers at St. Andrew’s and ask any questions you may have! I hope to see you all there! Have a great day!!

Hello everyone! We had a great day today! We started off our day with a story by…you guessed it, Roberto Munsch! Do you remember the name of the book boys and girls? It sure was hilarious! Later, we had our first writer’s workshop. We discussed the importance of having a good topic to write about before we write and brainstormed many different topics that we were interested in. Then, the children went back to their desks and put their pencils to work! I was really impressed with many of the stories when we had a chance to share at the end of our class! After recess we had Math. It was a surprise to find out that we were playing Math Bingo! Mrs. Robinson called out the numbers in a different way to challenge us! Instead of just saying the number what did she do? When our lunch hour was over we had an assembly in the gym and the teachers put on a crazy play by the same book that we read in class this morning! Girls and boys, do you think Ms. Gallant was just studying her lines for the play? There was not much time left for Art class today so instead of painting we doodled a clown step by step! The children did an excellent job! Be sure to check their book bags to see your artist’s amazing work! Have a great week end boys and girls. I will see you on Monday!

We had a very busy day today! First, in Language Arts, we read Class Clown by Robert Munsch. I think we all agreed that he is one of our favorite authors. Do you remember what Leonardo grew up to be at the end of the book? We are also starting to build our stamina during read to self. Today we read for two minutes without any interruptions! Bravo boys and girls! The students and I also had the opportunity to practice our bus evacuation today. This is really important even if you do not take the bus on a regular basis because we do go on the bus from time to time with our school for field trips or for skating in the winter. We were all very respectful and listened to the bus driver as he explained what to do in case of an emergency. Do you remember how many emergency exits there are on the bus? Wow our school routines are already going much smoother! We talked as a class, about the importance of having a few rules in our class so that it will run much smoother! What are the five rules that Ms. Gallant wrote on the chart paper? Show and tell your parents the actions of our five rules! It will make your dear teacher happy! In Math class today we did some activities with numbers! Mrs. Robinson and Mrs. Gallant both taught our class! The children even helped write the outcome for today's lesson! They were amazing! Can you tell your parents what we did today in Math? Well, tomorrow we have Art and I think paint may be involved! This should be fun! I hope you all have a nice sleep tonight and are ready for tomorrow! We are off to a great start here in room 221!

Hello everyone! Welcome to the web page for room 221! I am Ms. Gallant and I will be a teacher in the 1/2 split classroom this year! We had a great first day back! There are some old friends and new friends in our room.   We did a lot of work getting our supplies sorted out , setting up how the day will look, and  going over routines.  I think some of the students found getting back into the school routine a bit challenging, but they will get used to it after a week or so!   Do you remember what a ready position looks like? (That is how Ms. Gallant knows we are ready to listen and learn.)In Language Arts this morning we read a book about a little girl mouse. Do you remember her name?  In math we took a closer look at our names, counted the letters in them, and began to draw a graph with the information we gathered and then the bell rang for lunch! Do you remember what a graph is?  After lunch we went to Music with Mrs. Comeau and then we were off to Phys. Ed with Mr. Williston and Mr. Noel. We sure put in a busy first day!  Get some rest and parents, please be sure to check your student’s homework folders as a few permission slips went home and their student information sheets! I hope you all had a great first day, I know I sure did!! I will see you all tomorrow morning!
