Students have been tested on their 103 "No Excuse" sight words for grade one by their Reading Buddy from Mrs. Lamkey's grade 4 class. The students enjoyed having this done.  We will continue to review these important word wall words in class.  Please study these words at home. We will continue to work on procedural writing during Writer's Workshop.  Another great week of learning something new!

We will be reviewing all "No Excuse Sight Words" and word families that have been introduced thus far.  The students have been introduced to procedural writing... First,next,then,after that,finally. We will be learning to write simple procedures.  Remember our class will be going skating on Wednesday.

 The grade one classes will be going skating Wednesday, January 22.  We will leave the school at 8:45 and return to the school by 10:00.

 Welcome back and HAPPY NEW YEAR! Here are our five word wall words for this week: where,their,two, mother,as.  Remeber to come to school with a topic to write about. We write everyday.  We will be working on the importance of adding details to make our stories more interessting stories.

We will be having 4th Annual Cocoa House on December 18th, beginning at 6:15 pm.  You and your child(ren) or family member(s) are invited to take part in an old fashioned Christmas sing along.  If you have a talent and want to share come out and sing!    If you are shy and want to put two families together, you are more than welcome to do that.  We will have our sound system and piano available for anyone who needs it. We will also be having a Dessert Silent Auction that will take place in the cafeteria before the carols and/or performances begin.  Bidding will begin at 5:30 and end at 6:30.  There will also be a photo booth set up for family/friends photos.  Each photo will be $5.00 each. All money raised from the dessert auction will be given to selected Saint Andrew’s families.  Please come and enjoy some Christmas cheer.  Cookies and hot chocolate will be served. **Students must be accompanied by a family member**

 Our Christmas concert will be on Wednesday, December 17 at 9:00 for the kindergarten, grade one and grade two classes.  The 3-5 concert will begn at 12:30.  Hope to see you there!

 Just a friendly reminder that parents and guardians are only permitted to take photos of their own child/children during school events and photos that might include other students cannot be posted online.  Photos that are used on the school website or in the local media have been approved by the administration

Our five new words for this week are: from,away,did,her,him. Thank you to all the parents who dropped in for parent teacher.  It was wonderful meeting you all!  We will  be going skating this Wednesday.  Book orders are dur December 5th. The weather is getting chiller please remember to pack your hats and mitts. We are in for another great week of learning new things : )

The grade one classes wil go skating on Wednesday,November 27.(The bus will leave the school at about 8:35. All students require a skating helmet to be allowed on the ice.  If your child would like to borrow a pair of skates from the school, please send a note to their homeroom teacher with their shoe size, one week before they go skating and we will try to provide a pair for the season.   Our Home and School has given the school helmets to loan for skating and these are signed out for the day, however the sizes and numbers are very limited.)

The five sight words for this week are: they,said,has,now,us  Last weeks sight words were: if,not,up, saw,  or.Our word wall is getting very full!! Students have been very busy using these words in their daily writing and reading.  Practice makes better! Please remember to review these words at home.  This week we will discuss the "it' and "et"  word family.

This week we will be adding five more sight words to our word wall. They are: but,came,get,just,out. The word families for this week are "og" and "ug". Students please remember that you will be writing everyday.  Have a chat with someone at home about what memory you would like to write about.  We will be having our Remembrance Day program at 9:15 in the gym on Friday, November 8 for those who wish to attend.

 On Thursday we will be celebrating Halloween at school. Our class will be going to the gym along with the K-3  wing for a parade of costumes, halloween zumba and other fun activities.  Students may wear their costumes to school.  If they have a mask they will put it on before going to the gym.  Our five new word wall words for this week are: day,have,put,was,play.  The word families for this week are is "ip"and "op".    Looking forward to another super week!

A reminder that picture retakes will take place this Thursday, October 24.  This week we will be exploring the following  five sight words:because,then,one,your,man.  We will also be working on blends sh,ch,th,etc.  Remember to come to school each day with a "TOPIC IN YOUR POCKET".Students may start a new writing piece or add to a piece they have all ready started.  We are in for another great week of learning!
