Welcome back!  Remember kids to come to school with a "TOPIC IN YOUR POCKET"!  Students are expected to write about a personal experience everyday.  It is important that you have a discussion at home about what you will write about in class. (Sample topics include...a birthday party,at the beach, at the park. bike rides etc.)  We are in for a short but busy week :)

Hello boys and girls we are in for a short week but a good one!  Remember there is no school for students on Thursday and Friday of this week.  Thanksgiving weekend is on it's way as well and there will be no school on Monday.  Wow, that means a five day weekend for students, enjoy! Our year is off to a great start.  Our class has already shown some strong signs of progress in literacy thus far.  I want to enourage all of you to listen to your children as they read their levelled books that go home throughout the week.  Take the time to ask them questions about their reading or give them helpful hints on decoding hard to read words.  All of these tips are great for young readers and it allows you as a parent to get involved in their learning.  Sample of your child's writing will be going home soon accompanied by a letter outlining how you can assist your child in their writing.  I look forward to another productive month in October and if you have any questions regarding our grade one literacy program please contact me at anytime.
