Welcome back! Today our class sang at Carrefour Beausoleil for the music festival. Everyone performed very well! Please refer to our school news section for a full schedule of events for the remainder of the festival.

Please note that there will be NO school for students this Friday, April 29th. It will be a professional learning day for teachers.

French - Reading and writing taking place as per usual. Students will receive new books tomorrow to read for homework.

Math - Mini quiz that had been written on Friday will be sent home tomorrow to be signed and returned in students evalution duotang.  This week students in gr 4 will be comparing pictogrammes and bar graphs whereas the gr 5s will  be learning about probability.

Science - We continue to learn about wetlands and marshes. Last week we were able to learn about 2 of the 4 zones that make up a wetland. We will complete this week.

Welcome back. With the warm weather upon us, morning recess will now be held outdoors. 

French - Students will begin reviewing their adventure stories amongst themselves and a partner prior to finalizing their good copies this week. As always, we review many oral structures throughout the week. Please ensure reading takes place nightly for 15 minutes. I encouratge students to review the book over again as many times as possible in order to strengthen their fluidity and comprehension skills.

Math - This week Gr 4s will be analyzing and creating single bar graphs, whereas the Gr 5's will be analyzing and creating double bar graphs. Friday there will be a small quick to review this week's work.

Science - We will discuss biomes and habitats as we continue to learn about wetlands and marshes. Later in the week, students will need to distinguish between the 4 main zones that make up a wetland and create their own representation.

Earth Day art projects due Friday (voluntary activity)

Welcome back to anther great week in 4/5 Glazier. Fundscript fundraiser forms along with music festival schedual has been sent home. Please check you child's reading bag. Please note I will be away on Friday for a meeting. 

French - Students will continue to write about their adventure story. My goal is to wrap up their rough copy this week. Please ensure reading takes place at home nightly. 

Math - Fraction test has been sent home to be signed. Please return and students will place in their evaluation binder. Our next unit of study will be statistics and probability. 

Science - We continue to learn about wetlands via Ducks Unilimited Canada. Our focus this week will be the animals and creatures that inhabit wetlands and marshes, along with their interactions/link within the food chain etc.

Welcome back. A reminder that students will be participating in “Autism Hat Day” on April 7. Students are permitted to wear a hat in school and contribute a small donation to Autism Resources Miramichi Inc. All proceeds from the fundraiser will be earmarked to children’s programs offered at the resource centre. Our programs for children include teen recreation and social activities, social skills program offered to school age children during summer, and special family social events.

French - Students will continue to their adventure writing stories this week. Our goal is to have our rough copies completed by Friday. As always, speaking, reading and writing is part of our daily morning routine. Reading is to occur nightly for 15 minutes.

Math - This week we will be reviewing for our Fractions test on Thursday. If you would like additional practice sheets to be sent home, please send a note and I will be happy to do so.

Science - Science will begin this week. Our unit of study will be habitats. Our focus will be wetlands in collaboration with Duck Unlimited Canada. Will will explore the dynamics of wetlands, various communities that make up wetlands and marshes, food chaines, and what purpose wetlands and marshes serve. Towards the end of the unit students will create a diarama of an actual wetland. There is also the possibility of a field trip to an actual wetland. Details to follow.

REMINDERS:

STEM Fair (aka Science Fair) will be held this Friday morning in the cafeteria for those students who chose to take part in this extra-curricular activity. Classes will be invited throughout the morning to visit and ask questions.
