Welcome back. A reminder that students will be participating in “Autism Hat Day” on April 7. Students are permitted to wear a hat in school and contribute a small donation to Autism Resources Miramichi Inc. All proceeds from the fundraiser will be earmarked to children’s programs offered at the resource centre. Our programs for children include teen recreation and social activities, social skills program offered to school age children during summer, and special family social events.

French - Students will continue to their adventure writing stories this week. Our goal is to have our rough copies completed by Friday. As always, speaking, reading and writing is part of our daily morning routine. Reading is to occur nightly for 15 minutes.

Math - This week we will be reviewing for our Fractions test on Thursday. If you would like additional practice sheets to be sent home, please send a note and I will be happy to do so.

Science - Science will begin this week. Our unit of study will be habitats. Our focus will be wetlands in collaboration with Duck Unlimited Canada. Will will explore the dynamics of wetlands, various communities that make up wetlands and marshes, food chaines, and what purpose wetlands and marshes serve. Towards the end of the unit students will create a diarama of an actual wetland. There is also the possibility of a field trip to an actual wetland. Details to follow.

REMINDERS:

STEM Fair (aka Science Fair) will be held this Friday morning in the cafeteria for those students who chose to take part in this extra-curricular activity. Classes will be invited throughout the morning to visit and ask questions.
