Well we are off to a great start!  We've started with spelling homework this week.  Please remember to study them every evening because we will have a spelling test on Friday.  Also, dont' forget to read....10 minutes a night is all you need.  In writing, we are discovering how many great ideas we can come up with when we write stories.  It's all about patterns in Math and everyone is doing a fantastic job.  We will have our fundraiser kick off assembly this Thursday and students will be bringing home packages. Our Spelling list is;   Pattern Words                        Sight words   red        wet                             tell        yes   leg         let                              end         help   men                                         went

Well, our first week of school flew by.  We've already reviewed and discussed Fire Drill and Lockdown procedures, as well as School Bus Safety.  All of our students are Daily 5 experts and we've already had our first 'Read to Self' today.  Everyone did a fantastic job and hopefully next week we will have an opportunity to start 'Read to Partner".  We've been busy in math reviewing addition facts and fact families.   We had our first assembly yesterday where we reviewed all the school, cafeteria and playground rules.  Afterward, the teachers put on a funny skit called Ribbon Rescue and Mr.Williston rode a bike around the gym because he was late for a wedding.  We can't wait to see what week two will bring.                                                                      Signing off,                                                           Mrs. P's Grade two class

Well, we sure did have a busy day today.  There were lots of hearts and love floating around in this classroom.  We had a wonderful Valentine's Day party and some of the students even kissed a frog!!! During the morning, before all the sweet treats, we learned about missing addends  _+  5=11.  Can you remember how we answer these questions?  We also worked on our doubles strategy.  It's becoming so easy for us that I think it's time to move on to a new strategy.   Most had a chance to work on their pen pal letters and we should be sending those out by tomorrow!  Hopefully, we will see everyone tomorrow.....as long as the snow stops!

Today was a busy day indeed!  We started off with our spelling test, followed by our timed addition facts test.  Boy ol' boy you students are really getting fast with your facts.  It was good to see that many of our classmates were back to school today.  We are still missing two students but we are hoping they will be back on Monday.   We worked hard today on Valentine's Day Cards with something special inside.  We spent another day inside today because is was too cold to be outside.  Hopefully, next week it will warm up a little.  For Art this afternoon, we worked on horizontal lined art work.  It was a lot of work but it made our pictures look like they were 3.-D.  In French, we learned all about our colours.  You should hear us speak!  Congratuations to Sarah, Cassandra and Cole for winning a coupon for have all their homework neatly complete.  Have a great weekend!

We have decided as a class to be more dedicated to our website.  So please log on daily to see what’s been happening throughout our day.  Today, we were missing 5 people in our class.  We sure hope they get better soon!   In Math, we learned how to add with a near doubles strategy.  It was hard at first but fun and now we can add our numbers more quickly.  Amber, Colby and A.J. all received coupons for getting their homework done last week.  We got our pen pal letters  a few days ago and today we had a chance to read them.  Tomorrow we will reply back to them.   We had gym today and we practiced catching and exercise.   We had an assembly today and we found out that we have a chance to win some really cool prized if we raise some money for our school.  Happy birthday to Colby!  Have a great day and get lots of rest.  p.s.  We will be having our Valentine's Party on Monday.  So you can bring in some sweet treats if you wish.   Tanya and Amber

Wow!  Today was certainly a busy day.  We ended our good drive today and our class brought in 123 items to donate  to the Miramichi food bank.  Great job boys and girls. During lunch hour, we had a skipping fundraiser to.    We encouraged students to bring in dimes or nickels to donate to our breakfast program.  Jordan Mahoney, Tanya knudson and Marisa Trevors won a door prize.  Mrs. Petrie, our District Math specialist, came into our classroom to show us some really neat math games.  We loved it and learned something new. With four more days of school left, we are all anxiously counting the day down.   We can't wait until Christmas.  We will not have any homework next week as we all deserve a much needed break before the holidays.
