We had a fantastic first month of school and everyone seems to be settling into our routines nicely. In Language Arts, we have begun our Daily 5 with Read to Self and Read to Someone and are ready to add Work on Writing next week. Students have also begun reading in their Guided Reading Groups. In Writing Workshop we have focused on having a BIG IDEA and adding at least 5 details to support our topic. We learned that a BIG IDEA comes from things we see, hear, taste, smell and touch!
In Math we have been working on our addition facts to 18 and fact families, as well as counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s to 100 on a number line. Please remember to take any opportunity at home to practice skip counting and addition facts.
In You and Your World, our focus has been on Safety: bus safety, fire safety, stranger safety and Bullying.
