November Scholastic Book orders

November's book orders are due on November 21st, 2011. I know that some parents like to buy books as Christmas gifts as well. You can drop the order off at the office for me and I can call you when it comes in if you would like to use them as gifts.

Pumpkin Carving, Halloween Jamboree and class Halloween party

We will be carving pumpkins beginning at 8:30 on Monday. Please come in to lend a helping hand if you can. Also, don't forget to send in a carving kit with your child!   Our Halloween Jamboree is also on Monday. Students are invited to come to school in costume and they will be putting on a little show in the afternoon at approximately 2:00.   We will also be having a small class party after lunch as well. Please feel free to send in any treats you would like your child to share with the class. There are 19 students in the class...but 20 counting Mrs. Richardson!

Math Night

There will be a Math night for students and their parents on November 9th, 2011 from 6:30-7:30. This evening will consist of Math games you can play with your child. There will also be a handout full of games and a list of web-sites to visit to help your child in Math!

Skating

The grade 5 students will be skating at the LBA from 8:45-10:30 on November 16th.

Home and School meeting

There will be a Home and School meeting on November 7th, 2011 from 6:00-7:00. The Home and School executives are hiring two people to provide chid care during the meeting to make it easier for you to attend.

G.P.S. session at England's Hollow

On Sept. 27th, 2011, the three grade 5 classes will be going to England's Hollow to do some geocaching (G.P.S.).  It will be fun, but please remember to dress appropriately! You will need some sneakers for sure, because we will be doing a lot of walking. If there are any parents who would like to come and watch or take part, please feel welcome to join in.

Magazine Campaign

It's that time of year again!!! It's time to sell some magazines to raise money for extra-curricular activities for your children!! The top selling class wins a pizza party. Our class really wants to win this! The third-top seller wins $10.00, the second-top seller wins $25.00 and the top seller wins $50.00. These are great incentives. Remember, it is because of your help and support that we are able to go on field trips and to go skating in the winter. So let's SELL, SELL, SELL!
