Week of Sept. 23 - Sept. 27

Posted: September 23, 2013

Here are few things happening this week:  *  This week for homework, we will be again printing our name out for practice.  I have included a new sight word book as well called "I am helping".  Please read this to your child or have them try reading it to you.  Remember that they point to each word when they read it.  *  In Literacy this week we are learning about compound words.  The kids will learn that 2 little words can be blended together to make 1 new word.  Examples of compound words are haystack, teapot, rainbow, doghouse, bluebird, sunglasses, cupcake, and blueberry.  *  In Math we are still working on Unit 1: Patterns and learning how to sort using a single attribute (color, size, etc.).  *  On Tuesday, September 24th, K-3 students will be performing for their grandparents in our Grandparents Day Celebration.  This will take place in the gym and will begin at 9:15.      *  On Wednesday, September 25th, it's school Picture Day.  Wear your best smile.    *  On Friday, September 27th, we will be hosting our first ever Fall Fair.  This will take place from 4:30-6:30 and there will lots of entertainment from Boys and Girls Fun Zone, games, bake sale, BBQ with hot dogs, chips, and pop/water, photo booth, face painting and more.  Please come out and support this funraiser.  There will be fun for everyone.*  Scholastic Book Orders are due on Wednesday, September 25th.
