The Oranges are Here!

The date for our November healthy snack of the month has been changed from Monday November 29th to Friday November 26th, because the oranges we have ordered from Florida have arrived early and we just can't wait to see what they taste like!Healthy Snack of the Month: Oranges Oranges are highly valued for their vitamin C content and are the primary source of vitamin C for most Canadians. This wonderful fruit has more to offer nutritionally than just this one nutrient, containing sufficient amounts of folacin, calcium, potassium, thiamin, niacin and magnesium.Most of the consumption of oranges is in the form of juice. Eating the whole fruit provides 140% of the daily recommended dietary allowance of vitamin C, because of the fiber, which is not present in juice alone. To make eating oranges easier, try pealing them ahead of time, or cutting them into pieces for a quick and easy snack in a school lunch.
