May 5 - 9

The week of May 5 through 9We celebrated Music Monday this morning and it was a fantastic showcase of the talented students we have here at Saint Andrew's!  Well done!French - We continue to practice Daily 5, where we are focusing on reading comprehension (making connections to the stories we read)   We review the spelling words each morning in class.  The quiz will be Friday. (They are: seulement, souvent, pendant, peut-être, ensuite, d'accord, centimètre, mesure, autour et bonsoir.)Math - We continue to work on the measurement unit.  We are looking at estimating measurement in centimetres and using references (such as a finger width to estimate 1cm).Social Studies - This week the brochures about things to do in NB are to be finished.  Drafts are almost complete (for some groups), and final copies are due Friday. (This is partner work, which they have been & will continue to be given lots of class time to finish.)  Small quiz on recognizing NB and other map work will be this week as well.Science -  We will be planting tomato seeds this week to observe and document it's growth through the various stages as well as helping out the TomotoSphere project in submiting data on the growth of seeds that have been to space & back.  While we grow our tomato plants we will be looking at the scientific process and look at soil and water's effect on different types.Homework:- Read each night (record)- Study Spell-A-Thon words (15 words - list went home last Tuesday)- Math sheets Tuesday & Thursday
