Welcome back from what was hopefully an awesome March break!MATH: We are jumping right in with a new unit in Math (Multiplication & Division)! This week the focus is on representing multiplications up to 5X5 using various pictures/diagrams, counters, ect. ex: arrays ▲▲▲▲▲ ▲▲▲▲▲ this represents 2x5=10 or 5x2=10The students are blowing me away with their speed with the facts up to 5 already!FRENCH: We continue to practice new spelling words everyday through various activities, as a class and individually. We also read as a class every day, and through our 'Daily 5' groups, students get to read independantly, with a partner or with me, to work on specific skills. This week we are focusing on comprehension strategies (ie: predicting what might happen before you read, visualizing the story as you read, summarizing what happened after you read, and so on.)This week's spelling words are: feu, autre, regarde, combien, faire, ont, drôle, étais, fois, entrer.SOCIAL STUDIES: This week we are looking at maps of the world, Canada and more specifically New Brunswick. Students are learning to recognize the shape of our province and where it is in the world. We are also looking at the physical features of our province. (Mountains, rivers, ect.)HEALTH: We have started a discussion on healthy habits for living. Eating right, sleeping enough, doing physical activity, dental hygiene, ect. We will be looking at Canada's Food guide to plan healthy meals that we like, and to see if we are eating the right amounts from each!?A busy week for us, but glad to be back at it!
