This week the students will learn how a number is broken down. We will do this through rods and units as well as with the use of ten frames. Rods represent the number 10 and a unit represent the number 1. If an image of a rod and four units is placed, this would represent the number 14.
For the Ten Frames, each dot represent one, therefore, if there were four dots in a frame then it would equal the number four. Eventually, each student will be able to state the number at a glance.
