Students had a chance to sit and do their classwork at an old-fashioned school desk. We are learning about the one-room schoolhouse and what it was like to go to school in the past. When asked what the best thing would have been they responded:  "being in the same class as your friends even if they were older or younger than you" and "using a feather and ink".  The worst thing was:  "bringing wood for the woodstove",  "having to use  slate", and  "sitting on hard wooden chairs...splinters". They really enjoyed having these desks in our classroom for a few days!
