Here are a few things happening this week: * In Literacy we will be working on the letter I i this week. The letter I i is a hard working vowel because it has two sounds. The short i sound is the sound of our Zoo Phonics animal, Inny Inchworm and can also be heard in words such as, inch, ill, it, is, in, lick, bit, and dip. The long i sound says its own name and can be found in words such as, ice, iceburg, idea, rice, hive, smile, and bride. Show and Tell will be on Friday so have fun searching with something that begins with the /i/ sound. * In Math, we are working on more, fewer, and as many as. The kids are catching on quickly and doing very well. * Please continue to practice your sight words every night. I will begin word assessment on the first words. * Scholastic Book Orders will be sent home this week. They will be due back on November 13th. * I posted the skating schedule last week. Our first skating day is on December 17th. If your child needs a pair of skates, please let me know well in advance so I can get him/her sized for a pair. These skates will be loaned out for the season and can then be returned when skating is done.
