Welcome
to another great week in 3 Glazier. I trust students enjoyed their day off on
Wednesday. Finger’s crossed that Mother Nature will cooperate and students will
be able to enjoy the recess break outside.
French - This
week students will be correcting/self-assessing and rehearsing their draft
copies of their video presentation prior to next Monday. I look forward to
helping students master the language and find their “voice” in each piece. Stay
tuned J
Guided
reading/Daily 5 continues as usual. We have progressed on to E level books and
students continue learn how to incorporate new skills such as prediction,
visualization, etc. while reading. While at home if your child is unsure of a
word, feel free to write it down on a sticky note and/or write it down in their
agenda and we will practice the word(s) and add them to our word wall. As well,
please ensure your child records the book(s) they have read each night in the
reading log sheet. I have extra copies once their log becomes full.
Math -
Last week’s weekly quiz has been corrected and sent home to be signed. Please
return with your child this week. As for this week, we will be using our time
to review/go over concepts thought to date in our Patterns unit. My goal is to administer their unit test Friday.
Feel free to contact me via e-mail and/or agenda if you would like additional material
for your son/daughter to practice at home.
Social Studies – This
week we will read a book entitled “Je fais le plan de ma class” and review the
map students completed last week. My focus this week will be on how to
read/understand map legends. My goal is to have students complete a legend of
their own by Friday.
Additionally,
we will continue to utilize Google Maps and Google Earth to explore various
locations throughout the city and province. Students really enjoy this time!
