Welcome back everyone! Hard to believe we are already into the month of February. Your child has come a long way in such a short time. Be sure to congratulate them in their successes, because I am proud of what they have accomplish thus far. French - This week students will be completing several assignments. Monday we will be undertaking a writing and art activity about ground hog day and discuss whether “Shubenacadie Sam” saw his shadow or not and the superstition surrounding February 2nd. Tuesday we will be learning about Finland. Findland was chosen at random as our Olympic country to follow throughout the Olympics. This will tie in nicely with our Social Studies unit seeing that we are currently learning about maps, cardinal points and legends. We will take the opportunity during class time to dig a little deeper this week in preparation for our Olympic ceremony to be held Friday afternoon. If time permits we will utilize Google Earth again to visit points of attraction/interest in Finland and Sochi, Russia Wednesday we will commence filming of our “Me Voici II” video. Students have expressed that they are excited to film. I look forward to seeing the end result. Lastly, Art Richard will pay a visit to St. Andrews on Friday and enrich us with his musical talents in French. Art is an animated character who has an act for singing and performing. Students who have not previously met him are in for a treat! Please note we continue with guided reading and Daily 5. Comprehension, fluidity, visualization, and prediction strategies are the name of the game during this time.  We also take to to read collectively in the morning prior to our morning routine.
